Two 8-month-old pit bulls that were loose in Nanaimo attacked several children, severely injuring at least one. Other people that came to aid the children were also injured.

The children were playing in a yard at the house of one of their friends. The dogs were from somewhere else in the neighborhood and had been cited for being at large previously.

One of the owners of the dogs came and got the dogs but did not stick around. The news interviewed the other owner, a Dangerhair that looked to be in her late 40s or early 50s. While she was devastated at what her dogs had done, she said to the reporter, "People are saying, look at this from the prospective of a parent, well, these dogs are my kids, too," and then she broke down crying.

It was later reported both dogs were euthanized, as there have been other incidents prior to this one, and due to the severity of the injuries the one particular child sustained.

To the dangerhair dog owner I would have to say, "If these dogs were your KIDS, you did a lousy job of raising them. Thank heavens you didn't spawn any of your own."

I do wonder if you could rescue the breed, by crossing repeatedly with less aggressive dogs, and keeping only the most trainable puppies. Would be a neat experiment to do, create a more domesticated pit breed.

Depends on how you actually did the breeding. You don't really need to cross them, or if you did, you cross them a very small amount. You domesticate the breed by - to be blunt - killing the aggressive pups, and keeping the docile ones. You then breed docile with docile, and repeat; introducing back bred lines every now and again to ensure there's no high inbreeding coeff; and you should end up with a docile breed of bulls.

You are essentially trying to mimic a natural selective pressure, that selects against aggression, and selects for docility. Same thing that was done with foxes before, and with many of our domesticated animals already.

But all the lowlifes who own pit bulls choose them because they're violent. If these mutants all turned into Lassie tomorrow then the niggers and trailer trash would cap them without a second thought and buy some other violent breed.

Ah, I see. 'Saving' a breed is a term in genomics that means introducing genetic material through breeding, that saves a breed from a negative outcome, be that extinction, or genetic disease, or other conditions. Not actually saving it. My fault for not being clear.

you'd just wind up with a boxer or a boston terrier.
 
I remember hearing once that as the aggression and other shit behaviors are bred out, so are the "beloved" pit traits (block head, beady eyes, gator mouth, freakish muscles) and you're left with a fairly generic dog, which while a decent animal, isn't recognizable as a pit.

Generally speaking, you can categorize pitbull owners into two categories:

1. People who are aware of the breed's real nature and keep them because they want to look tough and powerful and/or they're unironic dogfighters.​

2. People who believe "muh misunderstood nanny dog, I can love the genetics out of the monster, I can change him, I can save him" virtue signaling types.​
​
Occasionally #1 might say "they're just misunderstood velvet hippos" but they're being disingenuous intentionally, and #1 also benefits heavily from the propaganda efforts of #2.

There's also maybe a third category of people who accidentally ended up with a pitbull, and don't feel strongly either way. Meaning they adopted a pitbull/mix puppy when it was too young to really tell what it is and they've kept it for several years without incident. These are more likely to become the virtue signaling types later on but at the same time they didn't intentionally seek out the breed to prove a social cause point.
 
With the recent decision in the UK I am so fucking ready for weeks of pitbull discourse, the sheer retardation and seethe of pitmommies brings me joy.

Now obviously it would make more sense and be more pragmatic to just prosecute these white/nigger trash retards for whatever their shitty ass dogs do, but it's more funny to watch them seethe endlessly when you propose a shitbull holocaust.
