All discussion of the candidates, updates and results should go here

For example- here's a video of Ted Cruz vying for world domination.

Also Hilary Clinton is a crook and nobody should have sex with her.

Discuss

(Note- The title will change as we get nearer the election, previous titles will be archived in the OP)

Nah they do some shit to keep the presidents healthy. When was the last time you heard of a president getting sick? Probably a few decades ago? They are rarely said to have colds, flu etc.
Only thing I have heard relating to Obama's health was him talking about quitting smoking.

Pretty sure not even death will keep Clinton from running the country tbh

http://www.theonion.com/article/clinton-assures-tim-kaine-shell-continue-serving-p-53309

MIAMI—In their first official meeting Saturday as Democratic running mates, Hillary Clinton reportedly pulled aside her vice presidential pick, Virginia senator Tim Kaine, and quietly assured him that in the event of her death while in office, she would continue serving as commander-in-chief. “If something unfortunate happens to me in the next four years, I want you to know that not a single thing changes, and I will still carry out all duties of the presidency,” said Clinton, explaining that should she as president succumb to an illness or accident, all national security, economic, foreign affairs, and social policy decisions would continue to go through her as usual. “I don’t want you to worry or panic if I happen to pass away. Just know that nothing—not a degenerative illness nor the bonds of death—can prevent me from leading this country for the full duration of my term. Dying will not diminish my power, got it? Okay, glad to have you aboard.” Clinton went on to state that, while tragic, her untimely demise would bring with it a number of political advantages, as no longer needing to sleep, eat, or breathe would free up significant amounts of time for her to focus on running for reelection.

"Oh, Fuck off!"
"You can't do that."
"You can't. Do that."
"You. Can't. Do. That."
"Come right the fuck on!"

... Said any sad motherfuckers who takes articles from The Onion seriously... E.G.: no one sane.

I'm sure it does happen every once in a while (since last time I checked the secret service doesn't have access to healing magic and he's a human being), but it's simply not made public for one reason or the other.

Sorry for the doublepost, but HIPPA makes even accidentily revealing protecting information, healthcare providers go to great lenghts to keep that info secure. If a staffer or Secret Serviceman overhears or sees information, be it medicine Clinton's hypothetical health issues, or instructions if she has said seizure or medical emergengy, anyone who leaks info would expose their ass to so many punitive damages it isn't even funny.

I actually work in the medical field, so I'm honestly a bit embarrassed I didn't make the obvious connection. :powerlevel:
I like how he bitches about teleprompters when Donald Trump has single-handedly made one of the most convincing arguments for using them in the history of modern American politics.

Ah the 1980 election, such an important one to think of when it comes to this election.

You had an incumbent President, something this election will lack, fighting against an utterly dangerous, right-wing radical coming straight out of the "Entertainment Business" saying hings of glory, just what the right wanted to hear.

Carter was pretty popular you know, he won Texas in 1976. Ever heard of a Democratic doing that? The MSM was his friend, and they were set on making sure to do everything they can in their power to keep the down-home Georgia boy in the White House, knowing the dangers of the Republican nominee. They thought of Reagan like Dr. strangelove, gonna ride a nuke straight into USSR. Gonna be so bombastic he was bound to self-destruct his own campaign.

We know how that ended up, though.

Even a prominent third party candidate was playing the election that year. But then...

Look at all that! The down-home Georgia boy who promised to "Never lie to you" got hit hard and bad.

And the State of Florida was called early that night. And with that, the dangerous right-wing entertainer who also flirted around with becoming the President had done just that.

There's a Green town hall on CNN right now. Stein and Baraka are basically saying nothing and making asses of themselves.

If the demographics today were the same as in 1980, Mitt Romney would be president right now.

Yes actually. Literally almost ever election since Texas' annexation and Reconstruction. Hell, Democrats were the states rights party until Kennedy and Johnson upended that platform. Why do you think JFK was in Dallas when he died? Or picked a Texan to be his running mate?
I think the election you're looking for is '64. A slimeball politician with plenty of experence and their party's support and a popular (if sadly brief) presidential administration from his own party, up against a man lacking support from his own party that holds deeply unpopular positions with the general population. Johnson's campaign pushed for anti-poverty programs portrayed Goldwater as being a dangerous extremist for building a platform that appealed to a vocal fraction of the population. Where have I heard this one before?
I doubt Clinton will sweep Trum like Johnson did to Goldwater, but I wouldn't call Obama a Carter.

Thought you were all for uncensored Trumpiness?

Really though, I'd rather he be himself than start playing the PR game. Same goes for Clinton for that matter. I'm never gonna go for either of the bastards unless I get an honest portrait of their thought process.

A major weakness I always pointed out in Trump was a lack of an "inclusive nationalist" message that has broader appeal to the minorities highlighted in the 2012 GOP autopsy. It's really as simple as saying American citizens deserve the spoils no matter what race they may be.

"Fuck the rest of the world!" is a good message we need to hear, but it doesn't work if we're divided internally (see: race riots).

Clinton doesn't need a unifying message. Idiots will vote for her because muh vagina.

Eh, American Nationalism and Minority Exclusion kinda go hand and hand imo.

Not even. Recently she's just been shutting up and letting Trump talk. There's a reason she avoids press conferences. She's unlikable, robotic, and dishonest as shit.
