Pat is so threatened by women that he talks to them in a controlling, vitriolic manner. I mean, we all know he does this to anyone, but there is a distinct air of malice in his approach compared to the way he talks with men. He has all the hallmarks of a domestic abuser. When Tyrone's not around, I can see him being an utter cunt. I think he's too much of a bitch for physical violence, but he'd be a snarky, manipulative fat fuck. That said, they're probably two peas in a pod, and if she validates his behaviour like we've seen her do, then why should she garner any sympathy? They're both fucked.
The status of Nikki is difficult to determine and has long been discussed in this thread. There are a lot of different theories regarding the nature of their relationship and to try to interpret her very limited public statements. But my thinking at the moment is that the facts as we know them are best explained by Nikki being a
catastrophic retard:
At this stage it would be apparent to anyone who knows Pat that he is the author of his own misfortune (he isn't an author of anything else these days). He spends multiple hours every day on his phone arguing with his toilet. This must affect her because they both spend most of their time in the half-hovel, she doesn't go out to work so she will see him doing this multiple hours every day, no doubt neglecting her and his household responsibilities to do so. Chances are she is cleaning up after him because he has Stalkers to Child. She also knows what a massive alcoholic he is, and she probably drinks heavily too - the only times we see them together they both have a drink in their hands. She has been present at almost all of his various humiliations over the last couple of years.
Any sane and intelligent person in that situation would do one of the following:
- Tell him to cut it the fuck out
- Stage an intervention
- Leave him
However, she has not done any of those things. What she in fact has done is:
- Publicly endorse his delusions
- Get her parents to pay his self-inflicted legal bills
She also married Pat after 5 years together. That's plenty of time for the honeymoon period of a new relationship to end and for her to become aware of the kind of man she is spending her life with. Pat is a childish, macho, egotistical drunkard prone to paranoia and delusions of grandeur. Any sane, intelligent person would realise this about Pat very quickly, yet she decided to marry him instead and buy him dinosaur toys.
The clear conclusion is that Nikki is incredibly gullible and stupid. She tolerated Pat's immaturity and macho dickishness . When Pat started his war with the internet, she swallowed his nonsense hook, line and sinker and went on TV to publicly endorse it. She went to the Debtor's Exam when Pat went to the bar to get shitfaced instead, and signed a document agreeing to a payment plan she knew Pat would ignore. She has ignored the mountain of evidence that demonstrates that Pat has brought all these calamities on himself and that his paranoid conspiracy theories are total idiocy. She's as stupid as he is.
The only other explanation is that he is abusing her and has coerced her into all this. However her endorsement of his stupidity was downright enthusiastic. She has a strong family support network, including rich parents who would no doubt be capable of spotting and extricating her from a domestic abuse situation, not to mention frequent contact with the Police. Instead she has dragged her family into paying for Pat's idiocy. There's no conclusive evidence, but my read of the situation is that the abuse hypothesis isn't as strong as the stupidity one.
We'll find out quite soon either way, I think. As others have noted, she seems to be spending a lot of time with her family since the Payening. If it is a domestic abuse situation, her family will pull her out of the marriage and we'll hear about a separation or divorce. If it's a stupidity situation, there's a good chance her family won't be able to talk her out of it. They may (and will if they have any sense) issue her an ultimatum that they will not financially support Pat and Nikki any more after his bull-headed arrogance cost them $32k. If she won't listen, she'll go back to Pat and be cut off by her parents. If this takes place, expect the foreign holidays and purchases of expensive phones to stop, and Pat's stress levels to rise. We'll have to read between the lines of what happens over the next few months, but if we're perceptive we'll be able to figure things out.
Further contributing to his paranoia is the perpetual inebriation/dry-out cycle. I am betting that he is right in that 10-15 year drunkard sweet spot. Started hitting it hard in 2011 and just never stopped. When a fella drinks every single day for that length of time, the booze stops ameliorating anxiety, and tends to make it worse. Did I mention that right around the 10-year mark is when your weight really balloons out of control, no matter how much or how little you work out? He is coming along nicely. Any day now, poor guy's gonna have a random panic attack that he's gonna mistake for a heart attack (or maybe vice versa) and he's gonna get vanned up to St. Mary's in the speedy blinky ice-cream truck. What's another few thousand in bills, right Patso?
