I disagree. I think he’s a stepped down version of an autistic savant who has middling skills at writing and sci-fi, but beneath average skills in everything else.

While it’s true that you can have a high IQ and a low GPA, that’s usually due to either learning disabilities (ADHD, Autism) or cultural issues (an unsuccessful family punishing a successful child). As far as I’m aware, Pat has never claimed to have a learning disability or a bad home life.

Outside of an academic environment, I think the biggest predictor of IQ is success. I mean, I think it’s the other way around - IQ is designed to be a predictor of success. So by looking at one’s success you can predict their IQ.

I don’t think anyone would argue that Pat is successful by any metrics. He’s an author who has published mediocre books which have had poor sales, he fails in regular routine tasks (like building a fence), and he’s one of the most mocked people online of all time. Hell, the last one could be a positive if he could monetize it like Chris Chan or Nicocado, but he has failed utterly to do this.

He also completely fails to be able to understand things which he has a vested interest in understanding. If you adjust is to the proper 1.66, is he enough standard deviations below average to classify as likely to have an IQ somewhere below the cutoff for retarded?
