If Floatplane is losing subs (which they got a boost to out of pity for LTT being hacked months ago), that must piss off Luke, and he's already been making points since he's been fully pushed back into LTT about how frustrating some of the processes are in the company. We can only hope for a Wan Show freakout and punches are thrown.

I keep seeing people focus on "he should have re-tested the copper cooler". I don't think that's even the worst issue with the video since they point out that their measurements are worthless (though what is even the point then?).

They do no preparation or research and fuck up every step that can possibly be fucked up and put no effort into researching anything and then end it with "the product is shit and nobody should buy it and it's hard to work with". It really doesn't look like it is, it looks like you are extremely incompetent and careless.
Anyone with even the tiniest sense of respect for their work or their fans would have canned the video and re-did it some other day after preparing properly. LTT just shat it out to their giant audience who blindly trust their word.

The video has 1.4 million views and mostly positive ratings. This doubtlessly did damage to the small start-up company that was founded less than a year ago.

Contrary to what Linus claimed in his damage control post on the forums, they are also extremely negative about the product from the start, including about things they themselves say they have no idea about, like the gasket thing. They could have asked about the reasoning behind design decisions, but just said they don't trust it and moved on.
Contrast to them giving big corporations passing grades and contacting them to make ultra sure they don't accidentally offend anyone rich.

Even if they hadn't sold the prototype off and ghosted the company, this video alone puts them in a very bad light.

I looked at the Floatplane site, refreshed it five seconds later, and the sub number went down by 40. This is like losing Patreons, much worse than your YT number falling. It seems like people had lost interest and they just needed something to remind them to cancel payments and this did it.

Then evidence surfaced that her claims were all bullshit and she was doing podcast interviews and travel when he was supposedly keeping her under lock-and-key.

It sounds like Linus did it first but it was way more lowkey, Zoe Quinn's example was a huge revelation that it really happens.

That one's especially egregious given that in today's followup from GN, it becomes apparent that Linus made no effort to make right by Billet Labs after selling off their prototype until after GN's video yesterday. How the fuck are we supposed to "Trust you, bro" in regards to warranty if you won't even make right for your very public jewery?

Spoiler alert, they renamed youtube-dl-gui to yt-dlg sometime in 2019 and just didn't bother to update the old repo or tell anyone, and eventually youtube-dl-gui stopped working because I'm pretty sure youtube-dl-gui used youtube-dl (aka ytdl), which was similarly forked into yt-dlp and stopped working.

Because it's all the same fucking things as that XKCD comic about Engineers doing manuals: "If you don't understand, that's just because you're stupid."

Given what many have suspected for a long time, d'ya reckon Linus might have been inclined to spend a little extra time to test the cooler properly had Billet Labs slipped LTT a few thousand dollars along with the prototype cooler and 3090Ti they sent to LTT Labs?

Also, sure Linus fucked up by leaving in the name and segment with this kid, but it is not Linus' fault, even if kid actually killed himself. The threshold for "bullycide" is extremely high. I haven't watched the MATI stream yet, but with the info in this thread it is very far fetched to accept that it happened because... a reddit post said so.

I do think the majority gets that beyond the jokes and mock accusations there is no substance to these accusations. I get why people are having fun with this, I agree with the parallelism so I am not even sure where I am going with this
