Does he even want that audience? He used to have the "anime fan with far too much disposable income" sector locked down, but lost a large part of it after the trainwreck the Vic case turned into, then chased the rest of it away along with his other niches to court wrinkly wine not-moms. Now some other people are saying he's just directly insulting them. I don't think he even knows what he wants other than to impotently whine about being slighted by the detached managers of a cartoon rabbit.
Every clip I've seen here has Nick prefacing the situation with how popular VTubers are and how much money they get. Nick keeping his eyes on the prize.
100 Percent I am giving a very concerned side eye to a large portion of people posting in this thread.
You gotta seriously wonder about anyone who watches a streamer that purposely affects 'Little Girl Voice'.
Pippa isn't just annoying she's a stomach churning reminder that marketing to pedos isn't just a thing it's accepted and makes big money.
New blood coming in from other threads (or boosts after a Community Happenings post gains traction) is something I look forward to. While some seem out of their element on this thread, fresh interest/perspectives help focus responses in the thread and bring relevant information back to the fore, reinforce perspectives, or challenge narratives.
Pippa came after my initial dive into the VTuber phenomena, so I am not very familiar with her, though it seems the format and challenges they face are more or less the same (different flavors of the same thing). I understand that some VTubers have gotten more sensitive to the pedophilia association and have since "upgraded" their models to be more adult over time to compensate.
From my limited exposure, the 'Little Girl' voices mostly sound cartoonish to me in that, if I heard them come out of an actual child, it wouldn't sound right at all. Sound-wise, hearing them come from an animated character makes more sense to me since I watched a lot of cartoons as a kid. Content-wise, it's quite different than the cartoons I watched as a kid.
From what I can tell, the VTuber phenomena has more in common with arrested development, consumerism (similar to onlyfans), and escapism than outright pedophilia in terms of its broad appeal. I'll spare you my thesis and stop here.
Is the chimp out you're talking about the multi part discord VC I posted where he talked to people to clear out the air about the grooming situation for about 2 hours and started talking to Kalea (yes, that Kalea) thinking she'd be on his side only to end up with Kalea also saying it's weird of him and him sputtering out that he wouldn't do it again if the same situation happened again?
The post you are referencing was very informative. I would encourage anyone who gives it a listen to pay attention to what Drexel is and isn't admitting to. Like how Drexel was careful to try and establish in the first recording that while the
situation was messed up, he still made the right call, and no one can judge him unless they were in the same situation (similar to a soldier in combat).
Drexel can't help but make himself out to be a hero of sorts, just like Nick "Tiger Woods" Rekieta.
