So women have to starve themselves and go through years of incredibly rigorous training and still get kicked out for being over 5'8 or a size 0 or having even the most minor technique errors, while men get to just show up and do shit like this.

This guy was also 35 years old when he decided he wanted to be a dainty little ballerina. Most professional ballet dancers, male and female, have been training since early childhood, very few make the cut and become members of illustrious companies. This is beyond ridiculous. A middle aged woman would have the piss rightfully taken out of her if she tried this, she’d be portrayed as a delusional sad case and not have articles written about her in Elle.

I dunno man, I think this particularly puritanical attitude of shame for bodies is what spurs the whole troon thing on-
Both in girls hating and fearing their bodies, and agp coomers getting a two inch horn over the humiliation/taboo aspect such a view point engenders.

The worst kind of troonery tha is currently raging, after all comes on a pipeline from the US where this attitude holds- how it bastardises with other cultures and gets dealt with is another thing, but the seed of it comes from fear of the flesh.

Yeah you're right and I realize that it's not a men vs women issue here... Because male ballet dancers also do have to go through all that and have incredibly rigorous standards set on them as well.

And TBH if an actual male ballet dancer with the right build wanted to dance women's parts, I wouldn't even have an issue with that. Or if ballet companies wanted to take in dancers of more varying sizes - that would be awesome, actually (within reason - a corps where some dancers are 5'0 and some 6'0 would probably not work great). But just making an exception to serve this one guy's fantasy sucks and is an insult to everyone who worked their ass off to be there, and particularly to everyone who worked their ass off and didn't get there.
 
It’s especially egregious because there ARE all gay/all male/all queer Ballet companies out there, but once again , it’s not about equality it’s about gaining access to places they are specifically not allowed.

Anecdotally I’ve heard that boys who to pursue ballet can get a lot more resources thrown at them by the schools and dance corps than girls, because there’s fewer of them and they are more in demand. But they still have to work their arses off from like the age group of 4 to get to the top of the profession and the skill and athleticism of male ballet dancers is breathtaking.

And I agree with you, I would like to see ballet be less constrained, and there are non traditional dance companies out there. I don’t have an issue with a male dancer performing a female role. It’s the utter lack of talent and pandering to this man’s stupid fantasy that bothers me. He’s not even en pointe!

35 is not really middle aged but you're on the money about the woman part. A woman of similar stature (even one shorter, but masculine and thick like him) would absolutely be taken the piss out of and hounded. This guy doesn't have a feminine body whatsoever and the makeup & dresses do not hide that.

And with the recent studies showing HRT is linked to strokes, blood clots & heart problems, we might be able to get the troon life expectancy down even further. What a time to be alive.

Our big boy ballerina seems to have made it to 41 or 42 though so he's really a trailblazer.
