She could have saved this simply by saying she was honoured to play the character but was 'looking forward to something new and different', the implication would have been subtle enough to get around the contract and nothing negative would need to be said.The truly funny part is that she knows she could make this stop just by admitting that, yes, they all knew the movie was bad when they were making it. But no doubt her contract has something about not disparaging the product, so her next-best option is somehow this.
But given these reactions....yeah subtlety doesn't appear to be her strong suit.
