I was looking at Disney+ the other day and I'm always confused at why Disney has only put a random smattering of Fox produced movies on there when they have one of the most iconic libraries in film history. What has Disney even gained from buying Fox at this point?
The Spider-Man films not all being available on the service is especially retarded. I know Sony's involved but come on, drop some cash and split the profits if that's what it takes. You still can't watch No Way Home on the service. Hell, even Homecoming's not on there!

Best thing about the shareholder meeting is that there's an easy solution to Disney's Desantis problem that comes up in every lolcow thread: just shut up. That's literally all it takes. Just make the company line "Disney strives to create magical stories and entertainment for everyone." and don't comment on politics ever again and Desantis will find something more interesting to try and fuel his presidential run, which he's no doubt gearing up for. He gets to say he made Disney bend the knee, Disney gets to go back to doing whatever they want. But you're looking at a guy who has a decent chance of being PRESIDENT in a few years, one of the few that remembers the government can punish people sometimes, and thinking you need to make a permanent enemy of him. Iger is literally unable to help himself, no doubt held hostage by fear of the overgrown theater kids he employs protesting again.

Part of me wonders if Iger wanting to butt-heads with DeSantis is because he still wants to run for President? Defeat the “big bad governor” while becoming a household name somehow earns him his place as POTUS? In any case, we have more egos than common sense right now.

Putting aside making a businessman CEO president after Trump's presidency and then Bloomberg's giant failure in 2020 aside, Disney is the one company on Earth that has no chance of getting out of this situation. Part of their problem is that Desantis remembers that the government actually has power over corporations. Corporations have defanged this power for decades now by threatening (and often following up on it) to leave the U.S. and go to China or elsewhere so they don't have to be subject to being governed, but Disney is the one company that can't do that. Fifty years ago they began the most ambitious entertainment project ever, building an amusement park metropolis in Florida, and now they're stuck. You cannot pick up Disney World and leave. You can't threaten that if Desantis keeps it up you'll pick up the whole operation and take it to Texas and cripple Florida's economy. You can't just abandon it, it's the center of your corporate empire. Iger can't win, he just has to sit there and take it.

And you thought the feminist cringe in the live action remakes hit its peak.

There was already consent in "Poor Unfortunate Souls", you fucking idiots. Ariel willingly agrees to it out of stubbornness (Ursula can only do her spells through a contract because although she's the bad guy, she's savvy through legal means), much like all of Ursula's customers.

"Poor unfortunate souls, in pain, in need. This one longing to be thinner, that one wants to get the girl, and do I help them? Yes, indeed.

Those poor unfortunate souls, so sad, so true. They come flocking to my cauldron crying, 'Spells, Ursula, please!' And I help them, yes, I do."

These people involved with these remakes are so fucking malicious and disingenuous.

Nothing. It's fucked them over financially, they lost Sky News to Comcast, and the main thing they were trying to gain, good optics for Iger as CEO is being undone not only by Disney's continued crashing and burning but by his return and the fight with Desantis, especially if that ends in the governor's favor.

Ffs, it's not even a decade old yet.

Moana better be a pasty, blonde hair skinny bitch. It's only fair because of the negress they cast as Ariel. But you know Disney won't have the balls to do that.
It's the same people who voiced them in the CG movie, which is even more redundant.

Can't have consoomers thinking about the consequences of their choices

Especially if Iger's slip of the tongue about those bonds proves true and Disney's been misappropriating Reedy Creek's government funding for the parks for years.

I'm honestly still amazed he even agreed to come back - you could already see trouble brewing around the time he got the hell out of dodge and I'd always pegged Chapek as his fall guy left holding the bag. To say things have gone even worse than anybody on the outside could have predicted is an understatement, though.

Speaking of which blackwashing female characters. A big part of woke culture is emasculating black men. I wouldn't be shocked if the tranny flag being in the background of Spider-verse 2 is a foreshadowing of Gwen Stacy being transgender after teasing a romance with Miles morlas. Miles Morlas looks and acts less masculine than he did just in the first movie. That flag wouldn’t be there without Disney approval. Nearly every new cartoon makes the nerdy wimpy kid the black kid. Tucker from Danny Phantom a chad compared to modern nerdy black sidekick character.

Wait, what?
During an absolute shitshow dumpster fire of an investor meeting, somebody got through the screening process and asked Iger point blank about how Disney's shift into a more political stance across the board both openly (opposing the anti-grooming act a.k.a. 'don't say gay bill') and in its content. Iger, who CLEARLY wasn't prepared for a question the screeners should have caught (and likely were told a different question), ends up going on some roundabout answer about how Disney is getting punished through something about bonds.

Bonds that, legally, are not Disney's, but meant for the Reedy Creek Improvement District, and are not subject to being repaid under that pretense.

The whole Reedy Creek thing is, of course, a result of Walt wanting to build a company town of the future with EPCOT, and Florida agreed back in the 70s because they wanted a Disneyland. However, the purpose of Reedy Creek is that it's supposed to be a seperate entity from Disney, just controlled by Disney, and the money should be going into municipal services and other things that benefit the people actually living in Reedy Creek. Previously, Iger has stated this is still the case.

However, as a result of what he said, it makes it sound very clear that he considers Disney and Reedy Creek one and the same. Which investigations are now underway regarding and if it turns out Disney's been using money meant for public works to instead develop shit exclusively for Walt Disney World, those bonds can be canceled. Meaning all that money needs to be paid back immediately and more than likely charges filed for what is being called potential securities fraud.

Given the absolute disaster of finances Disney's been in after COVID kneecapped the parks in 2020 and the more recent collapse of Star Wars and the impending collapse of the MCU if they're all the same caliber as Ant Man 3, getting the actual government involved over legitimate financial crime is the last thing Iger needs.

Honestly I thought those were two songs by Katy Perry and the SJW somehow found a reason why they're offensive. The news for this movie is proving that it's not going to be a big hit when it's released. Feels like one of those forced movies that companies make and expect people to worship, and they're offended by any criticism.

Rate me autistic, but this is making me think of the B-plot of Max Keeble's Big Move, a 2001 Disney movie, wherein the principal (played by Larry Miller) was discovered to be funneling the school budget not into the education system and teachers' salary as promised, but into building a huge stadium as a vanity project because "Sports rule, science drools".

But that must be why Iger wanted to go into politics so bad. He was already functioning like one. :story:
