In another timeline, this could've been Naka. Or maybe not. The job description seems like a natural extension from Iizuka's previous role as Creative Director for Sonic. SEGA must really be intent on turning the Sonic brand's fortunes around if they've created a new executive role just for it.

Hey now, let's not get crazy. Baby steps. He could bring some amazing new ideas, like 'don't rush things out the door.'

They made it possible to buy upgrades in bulk from the elder coco, which is a huge improvement on its own.So how is the first set of Frontiers' DLC? It's rare to see SEGA allow Sonic Team to finish their unfinished games post-launch, but it's an interesting start.
I haven't downloaded it yet, but I'll probably double-post or add to this post in a couple hours later afterwards.
The time trials is sadly still easy, very sadThey made it possible to buy upgrades in bulk from the elder coco, which is a huge improvement on its own.
The new challenges are just arena battle challenges and time trials for existing cyberspace stages. Not quite what I was hoping for sadly.
And photo mode is... photo mode, I guess? I'm probably never gonna use it so I can't speak for how well made it is.
It's made even worse when you realize they already had a blueprint available for classic AmyAmy looks like she doesn't play any differently. Instead of going for the Advance style of gameplay, she just seems to be using the same "curl up into a ball" attacks that everyone else uses, they just animated a hammer around her ball sprite.

It helps that it sold like hotcakes (3 billion at last count) and they've confirmed that the next 3D project will have a higher budget.Honestly Sonic Frontiers was fine for what it was, it was an absolute step above forces which I symbolically still think is the worst sonic game ever created considering how dull and underwhelming it is compared to the rest of the franchise not even having enough technical flaws or ambition to be 'so bad its good' like 06 or even boom. Frontiers for its technical issues and people meming its level design for seeming like a rollercoaster ride over the windows XP background at least was fun as hell to play, the story wasn't as bad as forces and had some genuinely brilliant set pieces and music. I still lament the bland menu design and lack of mechanical that the 2000's were known for having when the series became a sort of punching bag for so many. Either way it's probably the best game since mania and hopefully it will lead to more ambition from Sonic Team in the future.
I swear to God this cast of characters and the artstyle is perfect for Classic Sonic. Hopefully the next game will literally be "Mania but original levels" everyone is hoping for.Sonic Origins Plus officially revealed!

I'm glad but Sonic Team's problems seem to lie more in the talent rather than the budget. It's hard to tell what's them not giving a shit and what's them not knowing how to do things. They seem to want to imitate games rather than making them.It helps that it sold like hotcakes (3 billion at last count) and they've confirmed that the next 3D project will have a higher budget.
