The problem with Paul is that his flavor of autism is really niche. More niche than even 100 year old French biplane guns. Also it's statically very dangerous to go into the woods with Paul.

My compliments @Blasterisk for a well put together OP.

I've been following Forgotten Weapons for years (before YouTube) and I remember when Karl first started showing up on the channel. I kinda had him figured for one of your typical range Wehraboo guys with a mild superiority complex. I always assumed there was some weird shit going on beyond that facade, but I never thought it would devolve to this point. Aside from his separation/divorce or whatever from his wife, I noticed he was getting weirder and weirder through 2020 and the coof. I was always a casual InRange viewer, only watching once in a while, so it was kind of obvious there was something different going on. Who'd have thought the insidious troon virus is what got Karl.

Rest in Piss InRange, you were mildly interesting.
 
Regarding potential collabs for Forgotten Weapons / Ian McCollum mentioned in this thread:

1. Brandon Herrera
It would make sense actually, and I don't know why folks can't see it. Brandon is making his own .50 cal Kalashnikov. He can talk at length at the technical and business challenges he is faking. It's right in Ian's wheelhouse.

If Ian doesn't want to collaborate with Brandon, it's because he hates Mexicans. Which also makes sense, actually.

2. Garand Thumb
He remarked / joked a long time ago that he follows Jesus, not Satan, so would not want to work with either Ian or Karl. I don't know if Ian is into the Church of Satan at all. So they might collab if either Garand Thumb doesn't really care or if that confusion gets cleared up.

I think the AK-50 is a dumb idea (for a big gun its got a very short barrel) but he doesn't have to succeed for him to have some interesting perspectives on the effort.

There was a lot of content from that couple who started a new company for their pistol design and that failed but it was worthwhile for Ian.

For instance, machine shops will not do work for him once they learn its a firearm. Probably because they fear the ATF.

A podcast / fireside chat could make for a good 2 hours of content.

I've been holding out on normal NVGs since digital stuff has rapidly been getting better and cheaper, same with thermal scopes. Honestly the only cool stuff in firearms development isnt even guns anymore but the shit that goes on them.
 
NODs are just a status symbol toy if you have no actual use for them. The advances in digital night vision are fucking cool, don't get me wrong. Just a massive waste of money with no return on investment if you buy some just to have. Not to mention you've just exponentially increased the maintenance you have to do on gear.

I want plasma rifles. Until then the best thing would be is to spit out a jet of molten metal at high pressures. Molten metal super soaker. Would the 3 pound jet stream traveling at mach 2 kill you instantly? hopefully.

I like those hybrid optics that are coming out now. Those ones that are both red dot with a thermal overlay. Pretty neat. Doesn't seem hard to reproduce if you have the means since the image is just a micro tv screen being reflected but dear lord are those types of optics are expensive as fuck, hail Chinksun trying to force market prices to lower I guess.

I’m still surprised that Ian hasn’t done any collaborations with British Muzzleloaders. They seem to have a very similar level of ‘tism.

You don't have to like someone to like their content. I'm in the same boat about him going full "u hev 2 lik trans 100% of time" but I hope he still comes out with decent gun stuff.

Oh and as neat as the digital NVs are, you're still better off saving and getting a PVS14 in the mean time.

For sure, it was the scientific/practical content InRange presented that I actually enjoyed (mud tests aside). The practicality of various home defense shotguns episode was good one, the review of the S333 pistol, and stuff like that. I think Karl could really have gone into that type of content more, reviews combined with practical tests such. But no, he has decided to throw his lot in with the most disgusting, degenerate, dregs of modern society, troons and their ilk. And he probably doesn't realize it yet, but when the mob inevitably comes for him, his bridges to the VAST majority of the 2A community have been burnt to the fucking ground.
