Which is why some people from other countries, when they can, work remotely for US companies and get paid their rates, but that rate goes a much longer way in their home countries. Tho I'm not talking about local branches of US companies, or things like callcenters in other countries (see: poo in loo), that pay the local rates anyway. You gotta be good enough that the US company to want to work with you directly from all the way out there.

France has a higher cost of living on average than the US. He's also in their third largest city.

Once, I went with a girlfriend to see a French pop band (Holden). They're pretty niche here, so it was at a small theater, and since we got there early, there wasn't much of a crowd. We were sitting near the entrance of the venue having a snack, and out the door peeps out one of the band members; she recognized him of course, I wasn't familiar with them. But even if she hadn't, we'd have realized it was him quickly, from the fucking armpit stench that reached us from metres away.

No one but a Frenchman can stink like that.

I shit you not, the entire venue smelled of armpit an ass, like a Smash tournament, but all the smell wafted from the stage to the audience.
It was insane.

And that's the extent of my experience with the French. I can tell you from experience, that fucking frog smelled worse from all the way over there than an orthodox rabbi from up close. Long story short, a college classmate was a jew, was scheduled to become an orthodox rabbi after finishing his normal studies, and one day one of his elders came to see him, one of those who aren't allowed to clean their beards; wasn't a pleasant experience, but at least he wasn't fucking French.

Uh that's all I have to say to the guy.
