It's the same mechanism in all three cases, a perfectly normal function of the mind, and one which virtually everyone will experience at some point in their life when they notice that their mental body map has gotten too far out of whack with reality. Some people (particularly deathfats) never do notice. Your brain dislikes not having an accurate body map and will usually redo it if needed. Sometimes, however, instead of redrawing it's map, it'll alter it's perception of reality. Far as I know, no one still has a clue why.

Most usually it happens with age and normal people give a rueful shrug, grumble about "not being as young as they used to be" then carry on with their lives. When it happens early though, there's not always the same mental resilience to the stark contrast and it can run wild.

There are so many types of Indians it’s ridiculous to even speak of a concept that’s supposed to be universal for all Indians. “Two spirit” is a recent invention by (primarily) white hippies and faggots.

We have SOME rapports about some natives (kinda like Hijra in India) who were shitty men, and mostly hung out with women/did female work.

However, it’s important to remember that there were hundreds of tribes of very different cultures.

We have no idea how common that was, or whether early explorers only saw ONE tribe that had made an artificial role for gender non conforming men. For all we know, the usual practice for gender non conforming men, was getting thrown off a cliff.

TLDR: From what we know, the vast majority of natives had the usual societal division into male and female. Anyone telling you that “two spirit” were common or normal among natives is lying to you. We just don’t know since so much of their history and culture is extinct.

I didn't think so at the time of the N. Carolina bill (didn't know as much either), but it seems it was seldom if ever about peeing or being safe.
