Its really not that hard. The real problem would be the tards of today making it a multiplayer online only cashgrab like x dive and genuinely believing nothing else can ever be made except the forced trend of the day,
Yeah. I feel like Mystical Ninja Starring Goemon did it pretty well. Frankly, I preferred it over Great Adventure.

Never heard of it before. Looks like it was built heavily off of super mario 64 but with enough changes and effort that it is its own thing with its own charm to it.

I need it remaster on switch
Not nso. Actual game no need for online shit. Fuck. Lol

I'm still screaming they got Andrew Francis back. I love him and his plastic (?) face. Bruh doesn't age voice wise lmao.

I hope that they restore the missing and untranslated content in the games

Why does the ZX collection scream at you to beat zero 3 first and block you from attempting the challenge rooms in area N? The game is around 20 years old. Its a bit late to give a shit about spoilers.

I remember how the X remake put a lot of emphasis on the suffering circuit and how that was responsible for Reploids having defects in their programming. I don't think that was part of the original story, it was just 'they have free will, they can be violent criminals if they want to.' That was the explanation for some of the mavericks like Vile. They didn't get infected with the virus, they just wanted to join the rebellion for personal reasons. Finding info on the lore is kind of hard if you don't read Japanese. People don't seem to be sure what exactly was official and what was fan interpretation.

For this series I always found the fan ideas and explanations for things to be a lot better. Even going back to the first Classic game where the fan theory about Light and Wily being long time partners who both build the original robot master set. I think it's more interesting than the official story that Wily was just some jealous guy who showed up one day and stole everything.

As a rule of thumb the fan ideas are supposed to be better in practice. That means people liked the story enough.

Wasn't the "fan theory" the official story in the U.S. version of the games where the "official story" was the one used for the Rockman versions of the games?

Yeah it came from there, and the old Ruby Spears cartoon too. The old NES manuals had some really whacked out stuff going on.

I don't remember it being that out there:

MM1: Doctor Wily is Doctor Light Assistant and re-programs all the Robot Master to be evil instead of useful workers
MM2: Doctor Wily creates his own Robot Masters (and reading between the lines anything he can get is hands on, ie a fan/zappo lighter, etc).
MM3: Wily says he is sorry, works with Dr. Light to create a peace keeping robot (Gamma) and needs crystals from various mining world.
MM4: A new Robot PHD creates 8 new Robot Masters to prove he is the best robot creator in the world.
MM5: Protoman goes rogue, has a new army and kidnaps Light.
MM6: Mr. X creates a tournament of for the best robots in the world and then steal and reprograms them.

I mostly meant this odd stuff from the first game

MHX itself has Vile go "X, X, X! Why does everyone like that guy?"

The brain defect was just a possible explanation of his general characterization of being excessively violent instead of just doing his job of being a robot cop. It's not really a retcon per se. Vile is like the one guy who has remained consistent throughout every appearance and adaptation.
MHX is past x3, which also is made during conman's influence period so yeah....

MM11: dr wily was jealous that his robot overclock project wasn't funded and stole light's robot masters, light kept his old prototype and "implements it" ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°) on megaman.
that's where he's coming from with the dr wily being jealous, wily was always his assistant but on ruby spears it's because light didn't want to use them as fucking tools and wanted to use them as AI shit, i posted the first chapter of ruby spears on the previous page and you can see it.

The way it worked was supposedly that the Suffering Circuit made it possible to parse difficult moral questions, including the relative value of humans and Reploids (despite Reploids not being a thing yet).

MMZ Official Complete Works claimed that this was the "origin of the virus." This was, if I remember right, one of the so-called "three keys to the history of Zero and Omega." The implication was that the virus exploited the lack of perfected Suffering Circuits, that could also just trigger on their own.

The MMZ Collection website timeline then claimed that the Maverick Virus was a space-mutated form of Roboenza from MM10, which happens to be one of the two Classic games also made by the same non-Capcom company, IntiCreates. X was immune to the Virus because Dr. Light saw Roboenza and somehow made a perfect antivirus in response. That he decided to not just spread around to prevent that kind of disaster from ever happening again.

Basically, everything that is "canon" from what we know about the Maverick Virus comes from MMZ-related material, that just so happens to have disclaimers that it might not be canon. I personally am not even clear where the term "Suffering Circuit" comes from.

Im going through the MMZ collection for the first time and I got as far as zero 2. Can I skip this one? This has got to be the worst grapple hook ive ever seen in a video game and a complete tone shift away from zero 1.

Yet they force you to use a grapple hook that does not automatically grapple what it hits and shares a button combo with the subweapon when it comes to grappling onto or holding anything. So its a non zero percent chance you may just use the subweapon by accident and unfairly fall to your death because of shit controller bindings that cannot be changed. Very early into the game in the first forest level.

GigantorUnitron may have more info since they seem to know about it, but yeah that is my understanding and I'm willing to take multiple other people's word for it. The guy worked on MM7, MM8, MM Legends, and Pokemon cards.
As a kid I remember seeing online--to my great and wondrous surprise--a Japan-exclusive naked Misty Pokemon card, and I bet that's one he probably worked on. Japan sure is...Japan.

It could be worse.

It could be news about the rumored Battle Network gacha game.
I'll take whatever Battle Network games I can get.

What are some tips for the BN games? I've only played BN2. Fucking Gospel lmao.
I replayed the first one halfway through not too long ago. It was surprisingly more difficult than I remembered. I just save-scummed the gacha machine for good chips and stayed on my toes, dodging is really important.

I really don't get why in recent years since mm11 came out every wiki and fucking "gaming expert" online acts like the mm11 thing is the REAL origin and the stuff about wily and light being partners is "US only" cause I'm pretty sure some of the fucking manga adaptations of the games I read back in the day even had the fucking plotline of "light and wily are partners but light gets more credit and is kinda an ass at the start which sends wily over the edge" origin story. Both the gear thing getting canned during their college years and the wily feeling shafted by his best friend after years of collab work could fit in the same timeline without overriding each other. Even Rockman & Forte AKA megaman & Bass has Light's flaw listed as "Douchey" in his bio.

I think the weirdest thing in Megaman game lore is the fact some post Megaman 2 robot master origins are treated like they're made by light or wily but when you look at their Bio it's just light or wily repaired them. First game they were all made by light, 2 they were all made by wily, but then 3 starts doing shit like "shadow man is LITERALLY A REPAIRED ALIEN ROBOT THAT CRASH LANDED ON EARTH AND DR. WILY REPAIRED SO HE COULD HELP HIM BEAT MEGAMAN'S ASS" and this isn't a localization only detail either! This kinda shit continues onwards into every game afterwards.

Another small piece of megaman lore I find fucking hilarious is the detail that Vile is immune to the Sigma virus but works for Sigma anyways because he just really, REALLY likes beating the shit out of X.
