It really makes me believe Doug and co. (or at least the ones that are mediocre/terrible, like Lewis) do little to no research on their videos.
Why should they? All they have to do is check IMDB for a list of goofs, continuity errors and basic information and that's like half their job done before they even started to watch the damn thing.

That's just the problem though- Everyone uses IMDb. So the whole shtick Doug and his circlejerk (save Brad and maybe a few others) is pretty much pointless outside of making them money (or rather, conning money from their fans).

With Doug's review on Captain N, it seemed like he glossed over and just complained about how everyone looked. Then complained about the animation (Which was not great due to being a late 80's/early 90's cartoon). He did ignore the fact that one episode on the DVDs was the shitty version of "How's Bayou" and not the fixed up version.

Fun fact on Captain N. The concept was going to be an entirely different cartoon called "Buddy Boy".

The Super Mario Super Show Review could've been better as well.

Twister and ID4 were an ear sore to listen to him review.

And when he watched anything as a kid, he'll say it's a masterpiece and blah blah "KIDS IN THE 90S HAD HORRIBLE MEDIA unlike today where mah cartoon spergs are fine!" Hence why he complains about Digimon and Pokemon but he loves Adventure Time, SJW Universe, and glorifies really shitty 80s stuff like all those obscure movies or series and Ninja Turtles and Transformers
Doesn't he openly admit that Ninja Turtles isn't that good? That's great. "TMNT is ridiculous but I like it so it's OK! But I was too old for Pokemon when it came out so it's stupid!" This is something a elementary schooler does when they don't like something.

kind of like with the Thomas the tank engine movie which again he was unfamiliar with the source material and continued to bitch and whine when he saw things the show does all the time, it's probably one of the easiest franchises to do research on, and again its a movie for kids making him look even more pathetic about how much he was sperging

And that was the one that brought Mara Wilson in, she's now associated with Lindsay.

Sometimes I think he just has different opinions just to seem hardcore. And honestly he's complaining about "omg it's not like the book" but he doesn't seem to get some of the things of the book- animals don't kill humans for fear of distribution or "omg why they call it the red flower that's so retarded". If he's such a fan of the book he should know better.

And he complains about "too many celebrity guest stars"? He won't like the cast of Serkis' version then.

Don't get his sperging over the Mowgli's Brothers short either. I thought it was boring tbh.

He does realise it's a remake of the Disney version right? I know it borrows elements from the book too, but first and foremost its source material is the Disney version. That was made abundantly clear right from the start, so if he's disappointed it's not like the book he's retarded. Anyway, Andy Serkis's version is apparently an adaptation of the original book so hopefully that'll stop his whining when it eventually comes out.

The Jungle Book Disney movie... is based off the Jungle Book Disney movie!? HOW COULD HE KNOW THAT? You'd have to take like 20 film history classes at the same time or be Walt Disney himself to figure this one out.

He did a joke review with the Sesame Street movie "Follow That Bird" because he apparently couldn't go "too critical" at a little kids film. So why the hell did he do that with Thomas The Tank Engine which is produced for the same demographic?

In his Disney-cember review of Lilo and Stitch, he complained about the inclusion of the sci-fi and fantastical elements in the movie, stating that the more compelling movie would have focused more on the relationship with the sisters. That's what's going to get those families' butts in seats!

Doug's line of thought:"

"My childhood >>>>> Everybody else's childhood"

It just goes to show why he's not really qualified to be considered a true critic of anything. He's not open to new ideas and he certainly won't be open-minded when it comes to different iterations of existing works. That's just the way it's going to continue to be. And his legions of sheep fans will buy into his opinions instead of forming their own.

The main goal of a Disney movie like Lilo and Stitch is to appeal to children and hopefully not bore parents to death. Parents can get the drama and kids can get the aliens and the action scenes. I don't think he understands target demographics either, it's kind of unfair to hold a movie for very young children (Thomas the Tank Engine) to the standards of an adult film because kids don't want high drama in their talking train movie

Double standards I presume.

"Yeah, fuck your childhood, mine was more important! You say you watched Sesame Street too? Screw that, I'll still make fun of this other thing you liked with no remorse because I say so!"

I'm more than certain that Doug will find something to complain about. Even if it's something incredibly stupid and minor.

Kind of like his Care Bears Movie review. It was geared for kids and of course, kids will like it. Same with the other cartoon movies he reviewed.

Pretty sure he didn't know the source material for Power Rangers or why really the original cast left.I have realised his fanbase seem to share the same hive mind when it comes to his reviews.
