Many times, actually. Prior to the WW2-era when solid party identities and allegiances were much less common and weaker this happened all the time. In 1855 the Democrats needed to vote 133 times before they elected a Speaker.
 
Like to say Jeffries won't get because the average Republican isn't that suicidal, but Cheney is enough proof about how that line of thinking now fares.

Jordan is the best bet if McCarthy cannot pull out a Hail Mary for round three (he'll need to peel off someone at minimum), because he's already damaged goods by getting the same vote tally twice in a row. Either case what a way to start the year :story:

"Sources familiar with X's thinking" means "people who haven't spoken to X about the issue."
 
Rep. Byron Donalds (R-FL) just switched his vote from McCarthy to Jordan. If Jordan's camp doesn't have voters switch then the dissident camp will grow to 20.

McCarthy is against some of the most obstinate members of the GOP congress who just got to see McConnell's bullshit in action which they know McCarthy could do as well.

This is honestly a pretty funky event which could see some of the rules change for Republicans to avoid the higher ups fucking up their elections or at least give the Freedom caucus some nice committee seats. The Freedom caucus has to know the Rinos want to treat them as non-existent as it's what happened the last time around under Trump. Hell Gaetz would probably be happy to let the whole party burn rather than let that happen again.

Greene was promised a committee chair to go after the abuses of the January 6th political prisoners, she's one of three who actually bring this up and don't just do twitter speeches, like that fake ass Chip Roy.

Greene has done stupid stuff and was a fag attacking this place we frens dwell, but she realizes nothing major will get done on the financial end for the next two years so use the power to draw attention and bring the social aspect to light. She's doing the right thing fighting with the power given not wished.
