The other lawyer (Gregory Keenan) who had been working on Russ' case alongside the one who filed everything to the court (Andrew Grimm) has finally submitted his entry of appearance.
Why? Because he wants to be allowed to be at the oral argument, and argue on behalf of Russ
Note, he is NOT allowed to practice in the 10th circuit by his own admission
Edit: Keenan's request has been refiled and Gregory Keenan filed an "Oral Argument Calendar Notice Acknowledgment Form"

Would the application to practice in the 10th circuit take longer to review than would allow for the scheduled Oral argument date?
I’m wondering if that might be a way for Russell’s attorney to seem to follow Russ’s wishes overtly but not actually have to follow through. I cannot imagine they are still happy with the decision to join his case.

Note that Grimm filed his notice of appearance on sixth, and on the seventh, I got confirmation from the clerk that he was allowed to practice in the 10th circuit
Edit: Russ realized he was late and filed an "urgent" "Motion to extend time to file Opening brief until 01/03/2023" (though the doc itself requests the deadline to be "01-02-23"

The "compromise" he's trying to reach is likely the same one he's been begging for since the beginning: "Let me on the show and I'll drop the suit. Otherwise you'll get bad publicity and you don't want that!"

It's pretty automatic. So long as you produce the documentation that you're qualified to practice, it's just granted. I suppose the other party could oppose it on some grounds, or challenge the documentation's sufficiency, but he's already challenging whether there are oral arguments at all.
In fact attorneys can submit their application directly from their ECF account.

Calling him a "pretend" lawyer might be a problem for Russ. It implies that Guinasso isn't a licensed attorney, therefore the implication is that he's practicing law without a license. Now, odds are good no one's going to take the word of a convicted harasser and sex pest like Russ over that of Guinasso, but I bet Guinasso could make an issue of it if he wanted to.
