Linkara actually did run in trouble with Toei regarding History of Power Rangers on YouTube (but not with Saban, however).

I doubt DC and Marvel care about him (ditto Liefeld). And Frank Miller is an outspoken advocate for free speech, so he's not likely to pursue legal action either.

If he ever talks about Randy Queen on the other hand...

Toei's always been like that to everyone (People who upload their shows, Team Four Star...) So them going after Lewis isn't that surprising.

But you forgot the BBC potentially going after him for intellectual theft as the Cybermats were originally a Dr. Who creation that he up and stole.

The BBC is under constant watch regarding where the money goes seeing as it's publicly funded. So I doubt they'd risk getting accused of wasting money chasing after some dork from Minnesota.

Although it would be funny to have what is essentially a government agency laying the smackdown on Linky-poos.

Again, he did flat out steal them. You are right however, they probably wouldn't give two shits in the end.

I do like to imagine how it'd go down though. As I find it to be hilarious.

I say wait for the new Top Gear to fail, once the Beeb lose their most successful show they will likely panic and start protecting their next most popular shows (Dr Who and Sherlock, so Tumblr is fucking done!)

Interesting, I've heard that when a Dalek made an unauthorized appearance in Looney Tunes: Back in Action, the filmmakers got sued.

I dunno, they aren't used in a parodic way, Are referred to by name and have the same overall look and purpose as the show itself.

So honestly, if Lewis was a little more of a big shot, I think'd have the grounds to file copyright infringement. Ditto Toei over the use of their property.
 
On a similar note, Chris Bores has left in a lot of copyrighted material on his Irate Gamer DVDs, including Back to the Future movie footage, and even a whole fight scene lifted from Power Rangers.

Yet, he seems to have gotten away with all of that.

Probably because no one gives a shit about Chris Bores.
 
The law doesn't matter in cases like these. All that matters is: if the algorithms notice your content; if trolls are successful at flagging your content; if the copyright holders give a shit about you using their content; and, if any of those events should come to pass, if the creator has the will and the way to fight back.

With the first three cases, it's not too hard unless the volume overwhelms you. With the last, your best defense is a good anti-SLAPP statute in your jurisdiction, which will be given the Bill Cosby treatment under President Trump.

The promo for the comic book show they promised during their IndieGoGo campaign as a stretch reward. I was under the impression that it was to be a game show, but I probably just made that assumption based on Pop Quiz Hotshow and Nonexistent Video Game Show being game shows. I guess I'd have to watch an episode to be sure, but aren't there other contributors to the site that cover all the stuff this show is setting out to cover? I also rewatched the IndieGoGo video to see if they pitched the comic book show as a game show and heard Doug Walker say that the funds raised during the campaign would help speed up their production cycle. Haunting words considering the number of Pop Quiz Hotshot episodes that have made it into the wild.

Other people don't get ad clicks and views, at least not by the same amount Doug and Brad do.
 
I swear the Blockbuster Buster is probably one of the most annoying contributors there. He's just your typical overhyped screaming fanboy, nothing else.

And i'm pretty sure he has nightmares with the new Superman.

I really don't like Erod's Blockbuster Buster reviews, for the same reasons you just mentioned.

I do think his Honest Reviews and tribute videos are decent, since he at seems to be giving his real opinions as opposed to just being Nostalgia Critic lite.

And the first Awesome Comics videos are up...wonder if Rob Liefeld & Jeph Loeb would ever sue them over that name.
 
So anyone think Doug's going to do a clipless review on Batman V Superman in a few weeks?
