I fluctuate between feeling so bad for these people, and wishing they found a healthier way to express or live through whatever it is they're dealing with than genital mutilation, to absolutely despising them when they project their dysfunction in some authoritarian censorious power fantasy. Given recent events, I err more towards hate than ever. If these doctors are going to perform this entirely unnecessary surgery, there should at least be some coaching in telling potential sexual partners that you were in fact born a man, if it isn't visibly obvious. As far as troon paraphilia goes, I'd sooner they were meeting men who wanted to be with them than involving themselves with 15 year olds on discord. If they can't tell the person they're on a date with that they're trans, they're not even getting the most basic thing right, and the 'love is love' social media echo chambers will do nothing to challenge this behavior.

I don't know about that.

Mumsnet is a much more mainstream site in the UK than KF or Ovarit. It's like a boomer parenting site, closer to facebook in size (scaled down appropriately for the UK, of course) than KF.

Having the support of angry parents is extremely valuable in a fight like this. Angry parents both vote and spend money, so they're a powerful political force. Politicians have done Q&As on Mumsnet, for example.

That being said, they're subject to UK law which is much more restrictive than the US. That's their big vulnerability. They don't have section 230. I don't know exactly what a web host's liability in the UK is, but I'm pretty sure it's non-zero. They're responsible for what their users say, so they might be more motivated to preemptively police tranny discussions. Not entirely, but the threat of a lawsuit is stronger there.

Ok, looking into it, yeah, it's much trickier to defend yourself as a host in the UK for what your users say.


In the US, it's up to the person doing the complaint to do the legwork to get a court order to have a poster doxed and the content removed. In the UK, it sounds like the host needs to take things down immediately and maintain record of the user's dox.

Now Ovarit is much more vulnerable than Mumsnet. They're probably kicking the can down the street for a couple years by not permitting doxing on the site, but only by a little. I think when the tranny warmachine gets going, they'll start falseflagging the site with bomb threats.
