You have to love the arguments of these people. If digging into publicly available information, even if semi-private, is evil and criminal, then doesn’t that mean all journalists are criminals? Anyone investigating someone’s past is an evil stalker?

Legal is legal. You can say something is distasteful, you can say the people looking into you are insane, but if you’re not hacking into someone’s bank account, etc. you are not committing a crime.

On top of that, this fat fuck puts himself out there as a public figure. If you want privacy from prying eyes, you shut the fuck up, DFE and get your ass off the internet.
