If i'm interpreting the scanner correctly this was a single car accident with no injury, possibly in an office depot parking lot around 5:37 pm
Clipped what feels relevant, no further details, they moved to a private channel

I couldn't make out the last half of what she was saying but it sounds like he's being arrested for "domestic harassment and criminal mischief." Either something else happened in that parking lot, that's what's currently on his record, or Josh had a warrant out for a prior crime.
beginning is dispatch responding to a request for information and confirming officer on scene (probably telling other units that backup not needed at this time, no emergency medical needed). officer on scene responding to report (or personally witnessed since it sounded like he was pretty much there instantly) of a traffic accident (not a moving violation, so there was another car involved), officer on scene is in contact with motor vehicle operator for assistance (maybe officer was flagged down), office depot parking lot, possible intoxicated driver, officer requested dispatch to check auto registration and apparently josh has a state id card or (i guess his learner's permit might be able to be used as an id of sorts) which officer requests a read back for warrants and arrest record, officer then is in process of detaining driver he asked about the auto registration for. dispatch reads back info for the inquiring officer request: domestic harassment (DV 3rd degree, so this is basically a threat against someone else in the household or something like that) and criminal mischief (the "times two" is two priors i thought were completed hearings, but it seems that instead of a history, the ask was for currently open items). then dispatch confirms there isn't a license on record for this person. officer then moves off comms.

edit:
criminal mischief is anything from petty vandalism to tampering with construction equipment or city property or purposefully introducing a computer virus to someone's laptop. it's pretty wide ranging.

given Josh's apparent temper, i guess the domestic harassment was against family members that stayed with them or they stayed with? somehow i kinda doubt it was against Polissa.

lauderdale county sheriffs office has an app to look at the jail roster. No photo yet but Joh charges are disorderly conduct and destruction/damage/vandalism

Our economic system is pretty unforgiving when it comes to poor people. Totaling a car, or dealing with a bunch of fines is enough to sink a troubling number of families, and anyone that's struggled financially can empathize just a little bit with Polissa and Joh.

But the fact remains that they 100% could have made things easier on themselves. Josh straight up should not have been driving if he wasn't licensed. If they'd spent any time over the last couple of years begging for money so Josh could get his license they wouldn't be in this mess. Instead, they begged for weed and Applebees money. If they didn't hoard animals that eat their disposable income they could have saved up the money themselves without begging. If Polissa hadn't decided that Roe V Wade being repealed meant that she needed a 6 day hospital vacation RIGHT NOW, he wouldn't be driving himself to his brand new job while she spends 6 unnecessary weeks on bed rest. She 100% chose to have this surgery right now and there was nothing preventing her waiting 3-6 months for her husband to get his shit in order.

They're not young impressionable kids fresh out of school. They're not developmentally disabled. She's going to be 40 this year and he's in his 30s. They're at the age where many of their peers are heads of their own households, own their own businesses, or are in positions of leadership within large companies or other organizations. An emergency like this was 100% foreseeable. There's no point getting emotionally invested in people like Polissa because unless you step in and personally finance them for the rest of their lives, they will invariably lurch from one catastrophe to another.

The economic system is not unforgiving to Polissa. Her family repeatedly bails her out. These two people are managing to live a life that involves regular premade and restaurant food, 11 (ELEVEN!) animals, a single occupancy detached house, elective surgery, hobbies, and regular treats. They had a vehicle until they wrecked it. By world standards, they are doing rather well. And she never works, and he works for a few weeks every couple years. That is insane. This is not some random misfortune. This is a moron repeatedly driving without a license in an uninsured vehicle who wrecks the car and is picked up for multiple open warrants. He might as well be walking around wearing a sign that says ARREST ME. There are a lot of people having a bad time of it through no fault of their own, but none of them live in the Campbell house.

If it was a warrant, it was probably something really fucking stupid like him never paying that one ticket he got.

I was looking for her tweet where she said something about karmic justice, because I felt like pointing and laughing. Didn't see it, but did see this one, which was brought up again not too long ago.

So no, her landlord has not seen the inside of her home

I’m thinking there is far more to the story than ol Polly girl is telling. He isn’t being charged with driving with suspended license/no license or no car insurance. Although those are considered misdemeanors but I would think those would be listed. Her cousin probably pays for the tag/ insurance. You must have proof of insurance in Alabama when you renew your car tags and they seem to have entered the 21st century as cops must can see if you are insured when they get your tag info these days on traffic violation stops.

It might be a computer issue, maybe they can't show more than one charge at a time. If he had a wreck and a chimpout, he'd be charged with several things, not just vandalism.

Joh is a moron with anger issues, I'd put money on him having a tantrum when the police pulled him and him sounding off and punching a random window or something. Or getting out of the car and getting in a rage and kicking the car he crashed into.

Disorderly conduct sounds like something they'd chuck you inside for if you were being a pain in the arse - not as far as actively resisting arrest but just being a nuisance. Just a guess, obviously.

Wow, what a ride! I read this thread from start to current while being sick as a dog this week and all I can say that hasn't already been expressed so wonderfully by all you kiwis is:
1) I'm definitely in the camp that is finding it incredibly hard to feel any sympathy about this jail arc, something about stupid games & prizes, etc.
2) For heaven's sake Polissa, it's "aren't" ("arn't" just feels like an incoherent angry noise maybe a caveman would make which, I guess is suitable for ol' girl)

It's true, there's only one common factor in all of her bad luck...
...witches!
Her locus of control couldn't be more external if it were in orbit.
No kidding. Even if they aren't cursed, the accident was totally not Joh's fault because he TRIED the brakes but the car didn't stop!

Editing to advise that we pump our own brakes here before running with the clip from dispatch. It's not confirmed that Office Depot Scofflaw is Joh, right?

I think what's funny here is you know Josh/Polly tried using the 'I have a disabled wife/I need taken care of!' line on the police and they still hauled him away for a night.
