My dog was spayed recently and she is handling her recovery with more dignity and grace than Polissa has shown in her entire life. Despite only having mild pain medication and having to wear an uncomfortable cone of shame that scares her, and the fact that she has NO IDEA what happened to her and why she's in pain (because she is a dog), she gets up and walks, makes the best of things with the cone, and hasn't whined much at all.

I know this is fairly irrelevant, but dogs feel pain and fear like humans do. I just want to point out that my DOG is more emotionally mature than Polissa.

So is the garden dead from neglect yet?
Basically. Her tomatoes look like shit. She isn't bothering to water them. Her gourd plants are also getting choked out by grass, since she probably can't physically bend over to weed. She posted a 'harvest' of a handful of yellow tomatoes and a few bush beans. It was maybe enough to make a side and a sauce. Which she apparently can't even do, because Poor Polly doesn't have the resources/time/energy to cook! She can't unwrap a pound of beef, boil some pasta and microwave a bag of frozen veggies to make a meal, I have no idea how she thinks she's going to be able to do anything with a squash.

The best part is that she had flexed this "crop" as a "take that" against us.

Too bad what little grew was from Joh's efforts, not hers.

She also answered a question about what food she could eat five pounds of in exchange for a million bucks. (Physically impossible, even those big eating challenges usually top off at three pounds over two hours. Still.) The answer may surprise you.

I thought you were above pasta?

Can't reply directly to @toilet_rainbow but I am unexpectedly mad at her for the tablet thing. What, is she too good for pen and paper? Holy shit.

She just wants toys. It's like the uterus-shaped car pillow, the purple kimonos and all the other crap in her list. She is some sort of overgrown child, the type who thinks a new toy is the answer to the current petty want she is experiencing.

She can't just buy some cheap printer paper or a $5 sketchbook, she needs an expensive pretty journal to chicken scratch in!

Family members of mine have had various surgeries (open heart, major orthopedic surgeries, C-section, a not-laproscopic hysterectomy, etc).

None   of them were ordered six weeks of strict bedrest because this isn't 1900, Polly Pocket. Unless you're pregnant and very   high risk, that seems improbable.

I think part of my fascination with her is the fact that her situation is just... not that bad, but she insists she may as well be a step away from death at all moments. A supportive family, cheap healthcare, a garden. If someone sane woke up in her place one morning, once they finished crying they could have a decent situation going in a week or less, after rehoming the animals and cleaning the hovel. But she just refuses to take even the slightest step toward a better life.

@toilet_rainbow I am down for Kf Poverty meal cookbook! I’m sure I’m not the only person reading this thread and saving dinner ideas 😂 Red beans and rice is a bomb ass dinner with some corn bread crumbled on top. Yum!

I just found this website the other day https://www.eatingonadime.com/ and there’s some pretty good recipes.

People can say what the want about KF but we have some pretty good off topic discussions in the BP. We have the frugal cooking in this thread, book discussion over in the Sammieverse. Not too bad for a bunch of compulsively fapping 400 lb basement dwelling incels if you ask me.

Gotta suggest Cooking On A Bootstrap and Budget Bytes, too.

So long as you have the appliance/space to store them, frozen veggies (and fruit) are bomb, especially if you tend to forget about produce in the fridge. Less waste, easier prep. Canned, too, if you have no freezer space.

Use oatmeal to stretch ground meat for meatloaf or meatballs further.

Hamburger soup is one of my '....I need to go grocery shopping but haven't yet' meals.

I love hamburger soup, I have made this recipe a few times actually!

Another good hamburger soup is this one: https://www.simplyrecipes.com/recipes/albondigas_soup/

I know I'm planning to cook the shakshuka someone mentioned previously. That shit looks delicious.
Shakshuka is incredible and so damn easy. Top it with some feta cheese, too.

Another staple in my house is homemade fried rice. Leftover rice, vegetables and/or leftover protein (whatever you have), fry it all together with a little bit of soy sauce and garlic, crack a couple eggs into it at the end and scramble them in the mix.

There's always something new when she writes her munchie laundry list.

Arthritis, "mild" agoraphobia? No shit you have high blood pressure!

This is also the only time I've seen her with glasses:

Since we're cheap meal sperging, my go-to comfort food is macaroni with milk. Cook elbow macaroni to desired level of doneness, drain, and return to pot. Pour warm milk on top, add a pat (or more) of butter, salt, and plenty of black pepper. Eat like cereal, but warm. Even better if your butter is good quality.

Filling and comforting. My grandpa grew up dirt poor, eating whatever was available, and this was one of his favorite dishes. It sounds weird, but give it a shot!

I've created a new poverty resource thread that y'all can share recipes and resources if you wish! Y'all have some great ideas!

Ginger cat lady replied back to Polissa:

Me thinks Polissa is not going to like that answer. Which is a shame because she's saying that she's full of shit in a much more polite way than most of us would (and have).

I don't know if Polissa is addicted to opiates but if she keeps screaming for Norco and morphine IV drips I'll be very suspicious. I've known terminal cancer patients that didn't get fentanyl despite being in genuine severe pain because of the crisis being that bad.

If that is a spaghetti squash, it is on the small side. Those tomatoes hurt to look at. They were clearly producing and if she had just kept them in water and a regular feeding schedule, would have been fine and given her enough to can some up. Imagine they grifted money for that project just to have it go to shit due to their own negligence. AL has a long growing season, so also sad.

When she says her stove is broke, is it the cooktop or the oven or both? If it is the cooktop, she could find a cheap hotplate to use through something like FB marketplace for cooking things like eggs for her homemade JD Bowls. If her oven is broke, dunno about her area, but here toaster ovens are fairly common finds at second-hand stores, but also on FB. Though I am skeptical the oven actually is broke and she isn't just being a lazy faggot. Landlord is supposed to fix the shit, if not, complain to the housing authority as they are on le Section 8, clearly.
