Kushida and Bushi had the best junior heavyweight match put on by New Japan in a long time. Perfect way of using heel interference as well.
Kamaitachi vs Dragon Lee from Fantasticamania not counting.

Edit: And Kenny Omega and Tanahashi just had a star making performance for Omega. He's a mad genius in the ring.

Over on Lucha Underground they introduced a new character, 70s Cop Joey Ryan.

Progress apparently pulled of another belter of a show today. Only their second one in Manchester (They two shows a month in London roughly, one chapter show every 6 weeks and one developmental show and have recently started running shows in Manchester every 2 months roughly).

Can't wait for it to hit Demand Progress

So this is happening

https://www.urshow.tv/Events/UR Fight

Main Card:

Boxing: Roy Jones Jr. v. A Fan for $100,000

MMA: Ken Shamrock v. Dan Severn

Pro Wrestling: Rey Mysterio Jr. v. Kurt Angle

Grappling: Michael Bisping v. Chael Sonnen
Who the hell keeps clearing Ken Shamrock for athletic events? Wasn't he declared legally dead in 2002 after his Don Frye fight?

By all rights, Ken shouldn't be cleared for fucking shuffleboard at an Albuquerque retirement home. But little else is to be expected from a card that gave Kurt Angle clearance.

On Feb 19, Ken is going to have a fight against Royce Gracie for Bellator MMA so somehow he keep getting clear to fight.

As for that card, that whole thing scream freak show. You have a 57 year old Dan Severn vs. a 52 year old Ken Shamrock and both Kurt Angle and Rey Mysterio body are being held up by Crayola model magic.

So WWE apparently announced that NXT is holding the First Annual Oh Shit We Forgot To Build A Cruiserweight Division Cruiserweight Tournament, presumably starring Manny LaSombra. Might be okay.

Wade Barrett has reportedly given notice to WWE officials that he will not be re-signing with the company when his current contract expires in June, according to a report on Pro Wrestling Sheet.

Barrett is said to be unhappy with his position in the company. Barrett has been out of the ring with a nerve injury in his neck and has been accompanying the League of Nations to the ring while he’s not cleared.

Barrett has been plagued by a number of injuries throughout his WWE career which, in some people’s eyes is why he never got a major push. His latest injury is one of the reasons he was added to the League of Nations stable, so he could have a reduce in-ring schedule while he recovers.

When is Liger suing them for the Super J Cup concept?

Wade should've quit a long time ago. WWE probably would've offered him a better deal at some point à la Del Rio. He'd have more time to heal from his perpetual injuries. And he wouldn't have spent so much time being humiliated for the crime of losing all his heat after half a dozen consecutive clean losses to John Cena. But he's far from the only man in the company who's chosen WWE's money over the cold, uncertain outside world.

It's just a shame there are so few places for an ex-WWE guy to go. There'd probably be a lot less Dolph Zigglers and a lot more CM Punks if the threat of saying "fuck you" to Vince & co. could be given some more teeth.

Then now is the perfect time then? You can actually make a comfortable living outside of WWE very easily in wrestling now. ROH's top guys make six figures every month and lower card guys make good enough money were they only have to take the odd booking outside of ROH. TNA pays (when the checks clear), You can make a full time living in his own native UK with all the companies active there now and there's always Japan and Mexico.

I just think WWE wrestlers cling to "the dream" of working in WWE.

As for Punk: Punk is never having his UFC fight. If he does I'll be very surprised

Punk attempting a UFC fight has gotta be the stupidest thing I've ever seen him do. Even if he wasn't the least athletically gifted pro-athlete in history, he's had more concussions than most fighters have matches. That's not even getting into the whole host of other issues he's dealt with like his cracked skull and nearly two decades of being beaten up for a living.

Punk's ego (like most lolcows) drive him to do stupid things because he thinks he's amazing at everything. And we get to laugh at the results
