pretty sure if you are experiencing issues related to diabetes type I, that can qualify for SSDI welfare as well as possibly a removal of damaged organs like the gall bladder. likewise when i was still a deputy, the interactions with medical staff and crappy patients were 99% their smell, cleanliness, attitude, and or behavior. the only time there was a complaint about appearance was a 300lb naked chonker that was tarding out on the come down from an OD i assisted in hauling in.

Polissa and many ebeggers accuse "the rich" of "exploiting workers". last i checked there are plenty of positions out in the world and if you are feeling exploited you can just quit - it's not like "the rich" are holding you hostage or whatever. if you fear the dangers of unemployment, either take the jump for a better life, cope with the situation you are in until you can jump ship, or deal with it like an adult.

nonstop complaining about everything without making efforts to improve can be infuriating to some and disgusting to many. getting sympathy nods from socialists/communists isn't much of an improvement since the typical lefty socialist is educated, upper middle class, and wants to LARP oppression so much they sometimes actively take from the coffers of public assistance in order to show off how bad life is for them.

the public (via the government) doesn't owe an individual person anything they haven't directly earned in some capacity - hand outs and permanent welfare for people that refuse to work to improve their own lives are why social safety net systems are often slow, messy, or have bureaucratic noise added to make sure it's not a wasted effort on the part of the public to pay out from collected tax funds.

as far as farming is concerned, while farm husbandry is a thing, it's not 99%+. most ranches and pastures are open range with cattle free to come and go as needed. by offering shade, protection from predators, medical treatment, and food/water, cattle like to stay at the farm since there's little reason to go elsewhere. forced breeding isn't a thing in food production on any significant scale in the US or Canada, and the situations where it used to be a thing (milk production for example) have been supplanted by hormone treatments.

culling a prey population is essential to ensure species survival since unchecked prey can lead to unchecked predators which is dangerous for obvious reasons, but too much prey species will grossly impacted local plant and insect populations (look at the damage wild pigs and boar can do to farmland), which farming depends on for pollination and general ecosystem for fields. fish populations that die off often can result in algae problems because it's not being kept in check by bottom feeders, crustaceans, slugs/snails or some river fish. people that haven't much experience with the outdoors need to not sperge out over environmental impact because i guarantee you that the average farmer, hunter, or fisherman knows more than a cloistered student about wildlife conservation in general.

Slight PL but my ex wife is a nurse, and they don't care what clothes you're wearing as long as they're clean. If Polissa actually got all the crap from her wishlist, they might say she couldn't bring them in anyway. It's at most an overnight stay in hospital room, not a vacation, and they don't like a bunch of stuff cluttering the room.

Josh is planning on going around Monday to "get a real job with real pay" and he plans to use his first check to get divorced.

Only if it's elective. If Josh came to an ED in the throes of repeat gallbladder attacks, or it was looking gangrenous, they'd only care if he was metabolically stable now to survive surgery. They'd want to talk to him about what his A1c implied, but that wouldn't preclude a necessary procedure. If anything, it makes his condition more fragile.

He might need a day or so of fine-tuning his electrolytes beforehand, maybe some bicarb, but it's not like he's planning a cosmetic procedure at leisure. If the gallbladder truly needs to come out, it'll come out, and they'll deal with slow-healing wounds after the crisis is over.

The only thing I bought before surgery was a pair of slippers as they said I had to have a pair to walk down to get knocked out. I can’t remember if they gave me the compression socks to put on before I went in or if I woke up with them on. I didn’t need to take my own.

Someone did bring me a colouring book (eventually) but only because I was in waaay longer than predicted. They want you out of there ASAP.

I'm pretty sure they want you out ASAP since they need the room for other emergencies. It's 24/7 cases, isn't it?

Since when does looking poor effect your care? I’ve got an upcoming surgery and I’m showing up in some loose fitting pajama bottoms and A baggy shirt. They did tell me to make sure to shower the night before and morning off, as well as sleep on clean sheets. Polissa is dirty Af so I see that being an issue for her.

It doesn't. I've showed up at places a complete mess, in pajamas and in need of help (hospitals anyway) and they treated me immediately. Hell, in ER that would get you straight in above others, especially showing up in an ambulance.
They didn't turn me away for looking like a mess. And if you show up at a doctor not looking your best, that just shows how much more help you need and they won't turn you away.

I also just realized this. Covid is still a thing, and the newest strain is supposed to be quite infectious. Hospitals are a Covid hotbed. Not only do they want to make sure you can walk to heal faster, but they also want to reduce your risk of Covid between masks and GTFOing as fast as possible. Unless it's safer for her to stay overnight, they will want her out the door faster than she can shove Hot Pockets down her throat.

Edit: Also, Josh only has his learner's permit. They'll want patients to have reliable transportation to/from the hospital if they are being sedated. Ubers don't count. So is Mom or Mamaw gonna drive Polissa around?

Pre-Anesthesia Testing isn't infallible. They ask "who's going to pick you up" and don't demand to photocopy his driver's license or anything, and of course patients can fib.

Sometimes it isn't until PACU that the patient discloses that they've actually been planning on driving themselves home, or they were going to "wait for my ride" and then sneak off.

It's going to depend on the facility, but a taxi can be OK, unless that's part of the revelation that not only doesn't the patient have a ride, they also don't have help at home after all and it's, say, a shoulder repair.

If her rent was paid for an entire year she would still be begging because she can't control her spending. She'd somehow still be crying poverty if she had $5,000 a month.

The insanity of the things she's requesting on her wish list. You can't tell me she doesn't have some sort of bag lying around the hoard and comfortable clothes to wear to the hospital. She doesn't need full bottles of dry shampoo either. If she has to have dry shampoo WalMart has travel sized bottles. She really is expecting everyone to fund her hospital trip. I'm going to laugh if she gets booted same day, though I wouldn't put it past her to throw a fit and feign pain to prolong her stay.

ETA: I've checked her Amazon Wishlist everyday for the past 3 days and she is constantly adding and deleting(I highly doubt people are buying her anything) things. She sure stays busy thinking of things for others to buy her. I have noticed that a few days ago she had a wishlist for the condemned trailer which included a lot of matching expensive teal kitchen pieces. That wishlist has either been deleted or privated for some reason.

if her rent and utilities are paid and there is very little leftover, then only her own laziness is stopping her from acquiring food (SNAP benefits via EBT is a separate disbursement from general cash benefit and SSDI) through growing some potatoes, buying some diabetes friendly cheap veggies like carrots, spinach, broccoli, tomatoes, cucumbers, et c - fixings for a salad are cheap and readily available almost year-round in her area. she's already been (trying?) to grow her own, so that's a start.

heck if she's keen on being an artist, make some decorative concrete tiles with ink and chalk to sell locally or on etsy. it's cheap, doesn't expire easily, can be made in bulk (make a mold and reuse repeatedly), hand-made crafty tiles are a popular sale for bathrooms or something, and it's a money earner that doesn't even need much labor if you get a good setup with troughs and pulleys and stuff. Josh can obviously do some manual labor, so loading them into a truck or something isn't impossible.



Polissa is learned helplessness in perfect example - combined with limited world experience, lack of any sort of motivation to improve her own lot in life, she's completely incapable of getting ahead. she's robbed herself of her own future and her, and people like her, are exactly the type that are pushing further and further left because they view that direction as some magical land of milk and honey, of genuinely free gibs. this is the thing that i find absolutely disgusting about her.

If SSDI covers rent and utilities, and she also gets SNAP and Medicaid? Then she's much better off than most people on the dole. Maybe it'll be tight, but in terms of essentials? That's pretty damn good. If Jersh works, then his money after his expenses (which don't include food since he's also on SNAP) would be the "extra income." Add her family helping them with shit like food and a car? She actually has it pretty good all things considering. The problem is that she is utterly consumed by greed and gluttony and cannot see that her life really could be much worse. Most of the issues in her life are actually ones she created herself, like taking 13 animals into her house and letting them destroy the place.

This is a major point too. Everything is other people's or entities's faults, look at how bullied I am, woe is me. Look at how she's milking the hysterectomy. It's all "I'm poor, the nurses hate me, I'm a woman, I need to yeet my uterus or I'm gonna get raped and can't abort because I live in Alabama, I'm disabled, I need to rest and color pages after yeeting my uterus or I'll get sick, etc."

Not even being provided with something she wants is a guarantee that'll she be happy, either. Her mom gave her wings, sloppy joes, a cake, and booze on her birthday. She turned her nose at most of it. That is a fantastic birthday gift for most other near 40 year olds. Free food, whoo hoo! But no, her brain made the chicken wings icky to her taste buds, she needed a second cake made because muh Red 40, she didn't get enough birthday presents... Utterly ungrateful.

Last time I was on the surgical ward, half the patients had come from emerg and were there with what they had been wearing immediately before their gall bladder shit the bed mid-morning at the office. So they were wearing a gown and had their day clothes in a plastic bag. Her wish list is more like someone preparing to have a baby.
