I have a pet theory that Rowling torpedoed her popularity after seeing one too many badly executed, expensive but oh-so-cheap utterly soul-crushing harry potter wedding photos, with fat danger hair woman and tiny twig silent husband..
She knew what had to be done and took one for the team.

Also the movies were pretty shit and cringe.

Even if they just made a janky, cheap BBC childrens TV series it would have probaly been a lot better, both for being true to the books for society at large.

I'm so torn when I see shelves of hideous kitschy HP merchandise aimed at adults. Like on the one hand, anyone who buys it is a nerd that should be shoved in a locker, but on the other hand it's probably triggering the fuck out of troons :)

It keeps giving me vibes from “The Giver” by Lois Lowery. In the books all the teenage girls who were chosen by the Council of Elders to be “Birth Mothers” were looked down upon as the lowest of the low in the community. They weren’t given any choice in their ‘profession’, had three ‘products” (i.e. children) via in vitro fertilization, and gave birth in a dormitory/hospital facility - a horrifying process by which they were strapped to a table, blindfolded, no anesthesia, and then were never allowed to see or even know who those children were, as they were given to other, more successful community members. Then after their 3 years of birthing were up, they were assigned to hard labor in the fields or some other menial, backbreaking work. Horrifying, dehumanizing, and they were given various drugs to keep them complacent and “happy” in servitude. Seems like the perfectly fitting image of what troons would love for women/girls to be demoted to, doesn’t it? The only thing troons would change is the “mother” part to “giver”, which given the source material…
