To paint a picture of difference between the two, I had literally no idea Polis was gay. And he's the governor of my home state, where my family lives.
I knew Buttigieg was gay before I knew he was the mayor of South Bend.

It isn't so much that he's gay, but thats he's the obnoxiously 'queer' kind of gay. His 'experience' as Transportation Secretary is the other part of the one-two punch, and if anyone forgot about either of these, the tsunami of attack ads would remind people quickly.
Just a few seconds of footage showing the backed up ports and empty shelves, then the pictures of him with his husband using strap on tits to feed their newborn. The voiceover would be something like "While our transportation network was being strangled, Bootygay sat at home with his gay baby."
It's a double hit, as the joggers and the beaners both hate queers and everyone hates the transportation issues that are helping to drive up prices.

I would say the latter. We hold the truth of the former to be self-evident. Plus it's quite common for stepchildren to dislike or resent their stepfamily even if the family is relatively "normal." Even if "Dr." never did anything directly to Hunter of Beau, the former is still very mentally fucked up and lost his biological mother at a young age.
However neither are actually quite that strange.

One of the Democrats I figure is running, again, is Mike Bloomberg. If the Democrat party is truly set on schism, and I think it is at this point, Bloomberg will fight to lead the Neo-Liberal Corporatist wing of the Party.
He has the connections, he has a campaign apparatus that could snap back in place quickly, he has a not insignificant amount of money. The Bezos types should love him, and there is a chunk of the party that eyes the radicals with growing suspicion and dismay.
The real kicker for all this though is that he was delusional enough the last time around to think he had a shot. I can totally see him thinking that 2024 is totally his for the taking.

As for the Radicals of the Democrat party, I think almost all the old guard leadership is dead to them at this point. We are probably going to see a range of mid-level party apparatchiks throw their hat into the ring.
Though I have to wonder, with Ron Klain leaving after the midterms, is he thinking about putting in a bid? The dude has connections he can pull on, and he is received quite well by the Progressive wing. It's an outside chance though.

Internal divisions will probably noticeably increase in the Democratic Party between the Neo-Liberal old guard and the "Progressives" in the next couple of years. It will basically be their equivalent of the current internal fighting in the GOP between what I will call the "Populists" and the Never-Trumpers. (RINOS/Blue Elephants and Bush-era Republicans basically). The Democratic Progressives and Republican Populists could eventually secure dominance in their political spheres simply due to older members of their respective parties dying, retiring or being voted out. This is somewhat worrying though, because these two groups are both extremely polarizing and zealous in pushing their own goals and objectives which means the chance of them compromising at all on legislation is slim to none.

I think it will start as soon as the midterms are over and the democrats face a catastrophic loss of the house, and possibly a small loss in the senate.
At that point any chances to get any big democratic legislation is completely over until at least 2024.
Biden's handlers and the rest of the machine will be completely lame-ducked and any powers they had will have been pissed away.
Blame will need to be assigned for this.

It's more interesting when you add they directly declared war on SCOTUS. The Biden admin giving their blessing on the harassment of the justices and only slightly pulling back when people on twitter started to put out bounties. Pretty much everything Obama gets credit for is in fact SCOTUS' doing.
