That channel isn't a collector. It's an online used game store and appears to be a legit business. The guy just knows how to market to consoomers.

I mean I’m more partial to the PS2 startup noise since the PS1 was ever so slightly before my time but go off. Also the OG Xbox startup with the weird CGI ectoplasm reactor thingy is rad as hell even though I have no nostalgia for it since I didn’t know anyone who owned one. The post-2010 revamped Xbox 360 startup is extra comfy to me as well since that was my main gaming machine as a teenager.
I don’t get the people who get eleventy gajillion copies of the same game. I guess it makes sense if you really like the franchise and the alternate copies are like, regional variants with different cover art or extra content but owning 5000 copies of Cory in the House DS is just retarded. Even Scott the Woz at least attempts to justify his Flingsmash shelf by making it a running gag about Wii shovelware in his videos. I think it’s worst when they’re doing it in some autistic attempt to drive up the price of the game by owning all of the supply instead of just buying them for the meme. Like that’s the kind of mindset that’d be better spent on stonks than hoarding shovelware but then again they’d probably YOLO it all on spaffcoin or chimpsona NFTs or whatever and then cope and seethe on r/WallStreetBets.

Fully agree. Before COVID, I picked up a Genesis for $20 and you could get games for $5-10. Prices are insane now. I just emulate now, because I actually play the games, not just look at them on a shelf.

Yeah, it has more reason to exist, and at least isn't ULTRA SUPER LIMITED EDITION RARE where you had to wait outside of Target at the crack of dawn in the freezing cold just to hope to buy one of like three they got in stock. Still hard to say it's worth $50, though, even with it being a nice little self-contained gizmo. The three games it contains are very good and have a lot more going on than just Mario 1, but you can't just hack the thing and load whatever NES & GB games you want. There are reports of people doing this with that and the Mario G&W, but that's from crazy people microsoldering special flash memory chips, because the G&Ws use some kind of offbeat SBC. You can't just plug it in over USB and run some software to pump the thing full of roms like the Classic consoles. If you're gonna go that far, you'd probably be happier with a hacked PSP or something.
From what I've seen, disc rot's only just now striking cheaply-manufactured discs from the 90s, and with games AFAIK that means Sega's earlier entries, though I haven't noticed mine rotting yet. PS1 games also had black backs, so you can't see the rot like you can on others.
I have no clue how much disc rot will actually damage value. I could imagine a lot of idiots out there holding the value up by way of the flimsy "but muh legal copies!!!!" argument, though I guess we'll see. That being said, Sega Game Gear games are still holding value, despite most Game Gears being inoperable now due to some capacitors going bad a few years ago. They can be replaced, though it's not a simple fix.

My sister got me a cat backpack as a gift. I doubted the cat would like it but I gave it a try. What ended up making me abandon it was that I saw that the cat resisted being put in the backpack instead of going to it (like a dog would for a walk).

I have a mom who has always been big into scrapbooking so her scrapbooking set up looks similar to this this with bins of rubber stamps, nice stationery neatly orginized, fancy colored paper, etc. But like, she uses it a lot. Whenever we get back from a family trip or big event she immediately gets to work turning the photos into scrapbook albums and they turn out nice.
There is a thin line between consoomer and hobbyist. A quick skim of their youtube channels it seems like the top two are consoomers with their fancy useless tech gadgets, obnoxious color scheme, desk toys littered everywhere, and worst of all... haul videos. While the bottom one just might be a genuine hobbyist who is super into making journals.

Silent Hill collections are a real thing.
Same here, except for me, I had to get a McBoot for my PS2. I wanted to get the second and third installments for Silent Hill, but they’re too expensive to the point where I’ll have no choice but to find a ROM for it.
Plus the PS1 version for the first Silent Hill is just absurdly expensive, that at best, I think the only real reason why it’s like that is because the retro game gouging prices are looking at that as it’s some collectors item. They did not do this for the likes of Final Fantasy or Resident Evil. If I recall, they’re at a moderate price and some could still afford it if they had wanted to.

You have no idea just how bad it really is, and I unfortunately don't have receipts to prove it because I didn't have them backed up properly. He's been acting like a retard all across the internet for like a decade now, but unfortunately he's a shy lolcow so he DELETES EVERYTHING any time he gets a new wave of people discovering him and trolling him. There's been so much that's happened that I know I'll forget some, but here goes:
The first time he got attention was because of a black Friday haul video. In it he was throwing a hissy fit because they didn't have something he wanted, this led to people making fun of him and his first DELETE EVERYTHING. Then he made a collaboration movie review channel with a couple other guys. This blew up because Artist started sending creepy messages to one of the other guys teenage girlfriend. This prompted Artist to make a video where he did a pro wrestling style promo while burning the guy's printed off picture. Around this time he made a video series called "How Hannah Montana Saved My Life" where he lip synced and talked about how a girl rejected him and he was going to kill himself until he started watching Hannah Montana. This attracted trolls like a magnet, he went defcon 1 because someone called him a pedo and started ranting about "years of baseless accusations". He deleted everything and disappeared for a few years.
He resurfaces eventually but his life circumstances have changed drastically. He met a girl on the internet and moved half way across the country to live with her and her mom in a single wide trailer. She somehow allowed him to nut inside of her, and he became a father. He started making videos again, the first being an hour and a half long rant about the trolls. After that he'd upload videos that only showed him from the neck down because he thought it would shield him from trolls. This period was pretty uneventful, he made videos reviewing smokes and booze while bitching about his financial situation. Eventually though, his redneck waifu would leave him. He claims he left because she was cheating on him, but he's also said that he was thrown out and had to beg for money to get a bus ride back to his Mom's house (North Carolina to Iowa).
In Iowa, he returns to youtube showing his face. He starts making videos reviewing board games. He does DVD videos again. He works at a grocery store called Hy-Vee and he seems to be somewhat stable, even though he’s obviously still an eccentric weirdo. He uploads a weird “movie” talking about his love of lip syncing and how its his passion in life. But then, he starts live streaming, and shit goes off the rails.
His live videos would usually get like 10 viewers. I’d check in and he’d almost always just be bitching and moaning because no one was giving him money. Then one day 4chan discovered him. Artist talks about wrestling a lot, so someone posted him on asp, and he proceeded to get a thread every single time he went live. This ironically gave him a decent sized boost in popularity, with his chat actually being lively for once. Most of the shitposters weren’t even bad or malicious, but of course you’d get a few who were, and they made him lose his shit. One of them called him a pedo, and he absolutely flew off the handle. He took his laptop and slammed it against the wall on stream and then started screaming at the top of his lungs in the background about “YEARS OF BASELESS ACCUSATIONS”. This obviously made things worse. His big idea to defend himself is to make a video where he doxes himself. Sad piano music plays in the background while text slides about the baseless claims of pedophilia. He doxes himself and tells people to go look on the sex offender registry if people don’t believe him.
He still goes live nearly every single night during all of this. He sits in his chair rocking back and forth banning people constantly. He has a few more screaming meltdowns, once after a troll changed their name and picture to Artist’s ex girlfriend. Another because the chat kept asking him why he looked like he was getting ready to cry. He eventually sets up a system where all 4chan buzzwords are automatically filtered out and you have to have been a subscriber for a week before you could comment. Around the same time jannies crack down and it pretty much puts him back to where he was at the start. Except now he sits there angry because he has only 10 viewers again.
That was not the only problem with these livestreams. He would routinely reveal way too much information on them. One night he revealed gross details about his and his exes sex life. One night he talked about having “weird fetishes” that he’d never reveal because people would judge him. One night he revealed that he had a relationship with a 16 year old coworker and they were having to keep it secret from her Mom. One night he says he can’t reveal his favorite pornstar because people will be too judgmental. During this time he also starts talking about how much he loves Jojo Siwa. It becomes obvious to anyone who is paying attention that he really does have a craving for cunny.
He gets fired from his cashier job at Hy-Vee. He releases a video series ranting about the company, his former coworkers, and his experiences there. He has a long history of DSP style unreliable narration, where nothing is ever his fault. He claims he is going to write a tell all book exposing Hy-Vee. His former coworkers find out about these videos and they start spreading them around the store. In these videos he makes multiple comments about wanting to murder some of the workers and burn the store to the ground. Management finds out about this and bans him from ever entering the store again (he was still going there to shop). But he doesn’t stop, egged on by anons who survived the purge, a year later on the anniversary of his firing he creates a package. A wrapped box with an autographed photo of himself inside that has a balloon tied on the top. He walked in, left it on the service desk, and walked out. Obviously, they thought this was a bomb, and he got a visit from the glowies, and hasn’t talked about Hy-Vee since.
This leads to a string of jobs. Pizza Hut, a trampoline park, and currently Firehouse Subs. In a livestream he was talking about how there were hot girls at the park and how he wanted to beat to death some of the little kids. An anon clipped this and sent it to the park, and they fired him. This is where the “DeFy the Lies” autism comes from.
There’s other stuff too like an incident where two mods started e-dating and artist got jealous and flipped out. Him writing a book about his life that he’s constantly shilling. You can just search his name on facebook and see people reeeee’ing at him for shilling it in random groups. Currently he’s doing a wrestling podcast and video game livestreams, and I’m guessing he’s spilling milk since the last few videos are titled “we need to talk” and “here to complain and whine”.

Not gonna lie. I'm a little jealous of that dude's PS1 collection.
Have yet to encounter any disk rot in my game collection.
To my knowledge, Disk rot only happens if you don't take care of your disk, like putting them in a very hot and damp area as opposed to putting them in a cool and dry area. I know the Saga Saturn has the highest chance of disc rot due how cheaply made the CDs were compared to the PS1 which still work after almost 20 to 25 years of use.
I wonder if Gun, Cars, and Vinyl Collectors count as coonsumers? I know this thread is mostly talking about millennials but let's talk about the boomers and their coosumerism.

I don't have a problem with people collecting shit like that if I'm being honest. It's just fans being passionate about their hobbies. I do have a problem with hipsters collecting shit for the novelty of it and not giving a shit about it other than to either make money or look special, ruining it people who are passionate about their hobbies.
