A heated row has broken out over a move by Britain's largest bakery chain to launch a vegan sausage roll.

The pastry, which is filled with a meat substitute and encased in 96 pastry layers, is available in 950 Greggs stores across the country.

It was promised after 20,000 people signed a petition calling for the snack to be launched to accommodate plant-based diet eaters.

But the vegan sausage roll's launch has been greeted by a mixed reaction: Some consumers welcomed it, while others voiced their objections.

Cook and food poverty campaigner Jack Monroe declared she was "frantically googling to see what time my nearest opens tomorrow morning because I will be outside".

While TV writer Brydie Lee-Kennedy called herself "very pro the Greggs vegan sausage roll because anything that wrenches veganism back from the 'clean eating' wellness folk is a good thing".

One Twitter user wrote that finding vegan sausage rolls missing from a store in Corby had "ruined my morning".

Another said: "My son is allergic to dairy products which means I can't really go to Greggs when he's with me. Now I can. Thank you vegans."

TV presenter Piers Morgan led the charge of those outraged by the new roll.

"Nobody was waiting for a vegan bloody sausage, you PC-ravaged clowns," he wrote on Twitter.

Mr Morgan later complained at receiving "howling abuse from vegans", adding: "I get it, you're all hangry. I would be too if I only ate plants and gruel."

Another Twitter user said: "I really struggle to believe that 20,000 vegans are that desperate to eat in a Greggs."

"You don't paint a mustach (sic) on the Mona Lisa and you don't mess with the perfect sausage roll," one quipped.

Journalist Nooruddean Choudry suggested Greggs introduce a halal steak bake to "crank the fume levels right up to 11".

The bakery chain told concerned customers that "change is good" and that there would "always be a classic sausage roll".

It comes on the same day McDonald's launched its first vegetarian "Happy Meal", designed for children.

The new dish comes with a "veggie wrap", instead of the usual chicken or beef option.

It should be noted that Piers Morgan and Greggs share the same PR firm, so I'm thinking this is some serious faux outrage and South Park KKK gambiting here.

They do know it's linseed oil and not petroleum, oh, what the fuck am I even saying?
You're trying to apply logic. The only reason for most of their targets is;

1) They can get away with it with either no punishment or a slap on the wrist
2) It provides publicity

Whether or not they are suitable targets or their actions are in line with their goals (graffiti done with aerosol cans, blocking roads causing traffic to be on those roads longer causing more pollution and so on) is irrelevant.

I know we live in a world so fucking dumb even going back to Clown World again would be an improvement, but exactly why the FUCK would anyone protest a Turner painting? Is this there some deranged tard logic here I'm failing to understand?
Cultural destruction. They are the attack dogs of those who wish to destroy everything beautiful

Apparently it was something to do with it being a painting of London and that's going to be underwater by 2050.

Let it.

Just reminded me of this Rutger Hauer film Split Second, set in a future London that's underwater.

It also features a plot line about demons that eat hearts to get stronger, telepathic powers and alcoholism. It's a fucking trainwreck of a movie. 10/10.

Its about fucking time someone beats the absolute shit out of these cunts.
The next person who glues themselves to something should just be left there, like that asshole who glued his dick to a Starbucks counter in the name of vegan "milk". Or the hippies who chained themselves to trees. Just let them enjoy the inevitable consequences of their actions, and see how long it takes for a copycat to appear.

Oh bloody Hell, have we got any credible cabinet candidates left?
They were hardly credible in the first place. I'd go as far to say there isn't anyone in British politics who is credible for the last 20 odd years, just the same bunch of suits, changing their colours every couple of years and yet people still follow them.

To be clear, I mean credible as in someone who actually wants to help the people of the country and not just tie everything up for their mates and cash...

Well you know what I mean, people who won't fuck the job up any more than the last guy.

Watch Jeremy Hunt win by doing nothing again, the Luigi motherfucker slime.

So Sunak and Javid have quit over that handsy touchy bloke being appointed whip (IIRC?). Thoughts on this whole clown show?

I know what you you were getting at, it's the same view I was trying to go for however, when was the last time we had someone who didn't fuck the job up? I'd recognise it was probably Blair pre-Iraq though that was only down to how much of a fuck up Major had been, that they couldn't have made shit any worse.

William Hague?

He seemed to just muddle along quietly in the background in whatever role he played.
