How else will I be able to get a few 4090s for a non-gaming application that I will refuse to ever elaborate on.I know we're here to shit on sony's poor management choices, but the thought of people rushing out to buy the next flagship videocard as soon as it comes out is laughable.
It might be the one scenario more absurd than someone willingly buying a PS5.
I don't exactly care about either. The main reason I upgraded my old GPU in early 2020 was to get larger battle scales in Total War Warhammer 1&2 as unit scale does influence meta gameplay unlike the usual graphics settings. But I'm way more invested into japanese games (EDF being my number one game franchise of all time) with the occasional western indies otherwise. I'm also someone who mainly plays on portable consoles which are certainly not the best platforms for framerate performance nor graphic fidelity anyway. What's your secret? Frame rate over graphics?

Sometimes the HP salesmen completely gyp the government and sell them shit they really don't need. That's why the receptionist ends up with an i9/Quadro, so that's not a good example. It's really not

Well it wasn't specifically adobe, I was just using them as an example. Similar companies that have a subscription structure like adobe did have fuck ups like that.Sometimes the HP salesmen completely gyp the government and sell them shit they really don't need. Speaking of Quadro's, if you are doing anything professional why go for consumer cards when the Quadro equivalent of a 2060 isn't that much more expensive?
And what are you talking about with Adobe? Do you think they're dumb enough that they will let an entire company be unable to work if someone backhoes a fiber optic cable? Of course not.
Here's a link filled with Pissmasters favorite style of art that explains it: https://helpx.adobe.com/enterprise/admin-guide.html

The GPUs were literally what I could get, they were not the ideal that I had in mind but it was either wait weeks/months for hardware or use what was available right now and get things rolling. Now normally rendering would be GPU based, but there are exceptions. Blender's renderer by default is not GPU based(it can be enabled) and it was CPU based. Autodesk's programs while some come with a renderer that would be GPU based, having a full version jacks the software price up signifgantly, so they sell versions that don't contain any type of renderer at all. We did not need to render scenes all that much but had to a few times. Unity by default does not have a GPU renderer either while Unreal does. Things were shaking out where the GPUs would not be as relied upon as the CPU. And it wasn't a bad course of action at the time, we were able to meet our deadlines and milestones.
Well there's also ZBrush and there was Substance which was separate(until they fully merged their services with Adobe)Similar subscription companies like Adobe does not mean Autodesk.
Unity does not have a GPU renderer for what? No need to be coy about this one.
From what I know Mudbox have replaced Zbrush.Well there's also ZBrush and there was Substance which was separate(until they fully merged their services with Adobe)
Unity by itself can't do high quality renders by itself, it needs extensions in order to do so. So stuff like bullshots are done by outside means.
I don't know what the userbase between Mudbox and Zbrush is currently like. They both do a ton of the same shit. From what I know Mudbox have replaced Zbrush.
Really, skills have degraded to the point that bullshots have to be done by outside means? Jeez, get a programmer for your erotic VN. And are you really saying that those Unity bullshots are using the reference rasterizer because GPU acceleration for 3D in a game engine isn't available? If so, why would that be?
they do, but only for specific games to a very specific extent. sony especially is extremely paranoid someone manages to break out of their walled garden, affecting their games and more importantly service sales. at best you gonna get some asset replacements, but that's about it. anything else is another vector devs would have to harden (given how shit vidya devs are and sony would have to check for everything, good luck with that), so the only two options is either make studios liable in their contracts (meaning third party would dry up over night) or outright forbid it in any form which is much cheaper and much less effort (and people are gonna buy it anyway). Its a moot point because consoles don't allow modding at all.
MUH drivers is a meme, unless you are a sucker buying a nvidia gpu and play games at day1 of release. and unless you make yourself stuck on win7 or even XP I can't even remember the last time I had to "fix" a game (because I either don't buy it if their reviews mentions that shit or I wait long enough for those shit being ironed out - consoles still don't have store reviews and patches take longer, if they ever get released at all). fuck even niche nip games where you have to fake regions and get a translation going are mostly figured out by now.I used to play on PC but sourcing parts for what I used became nearly impossible for a year. Learned that I don't even really give a shit anyways, playing on PC had become an inconvenience. I hate tracking down solutions, keeping track of drivers, doing all this fiddly bullshit just to play a game. My eyes aren't good enough to see FPS differences and most of the time graphical fidelity goes unnoticed too unless it looks like actual mud.
first of all, sony interactive entertainment, the subsidiary responsible for playstation, sits in california since 2016 (ffs this is common knowledge by now). you can literally blame retarded west-coast faggots for sony's behavior the last 6 years. But this is a Sony hate thread. Sony has shit it's pants over and over again for the past six years and whenever someone tells them its stinky their tard handlers (aka the fanboiz) pop out of nowhere to say they're fresh as a daisy. Them combining PSplus with PSnow is going to be good for all of three months until everyone has beaten their hot ticket games and then they'll fall right back down to being the laughingstocks they are. They've said they have no interest in making titles they own available on the service day one like Xbox does so they've already lost. Microsoft is raking in the big bucks while Sony falters with it's out of touch Japanese businessmen whose consumer interests are stuck in the early nineties.
It's earlier than that, their game studios have been there since the late 90's. parts are also a non-issue for most people unless you're again a sucker having to buy the new FOTM stuff for fps differences or fidelity you don't see by your own admission.
agree on the multiplayer aspect, but that's again down to devs not giving a shit and/or the microsoft environment which has been fucking cancer for 30+ years straight (sure, let everyone run everything as administrator, what's the worst that could happen? oh, and they still disable extensions in fucking 2022 because some applecuck in management thinks it looks prettier). fwiw once a console gets crowbar'd opened it's even worse there, just look at what happened with the 360 (and ignoring all the typical console issues like backward compatibility etc.).

as for xbox and dosh, might be now, but it will also inevitably affect games, the same way netflix affected series and movie production. let's just say there's a reason they're shitting out new series every year instead of renew running ones. and for vidya especially I hope you're ready for more GAAS cancer to justify people keeping their sub up (with optional microtransaction not covered by gamepass of course).
That is vague irrelevant technobabble that amounts to nothing. What asset addon btw?I don't know what the userbase between Mudbox and Zbrush is currently like. They both do a ton of the same shit.
The rendering was done by one of the asset addons, but for some of the others the scenes were put into blender and run through editing software because some were attached to triggers and were not done in engine, but that was more closer to an artistic choice for those.
Unity's Renderers are classified under assets that you get from the asset store you then import the assets into the scene. Most will have specific menus that are not there by default. That is vague irrelevant technobabble that amounts to nothing. What asset addon btw?
What renderers? Are you talking about celshading?Unity's Renderers are classified under assets that you get from the asset store you then import the assets into the scene. Most will have specific menus that are not there by default.
That's what they did when it came to needing a renderer. I didn't really do that part, I did the other ones which were done outside the game engine.
Nah it was so light, reflections, and shadows would be more detailed for specific shots and give it a cleaner look there was nothing stylized like cell shading for this one. I think cell shading would be something closer to a shader in Unity I mean there's probably multiple ways to pull off the effect. What renderers? Are you talking about celshading?
Name your top 5 Unity renderers:
1.
2.
3.
4.
5.
Ok I looked at Octane, that's an unbiased renderer available for Unity for reasons I can only assume is related to the erotic VN that you are supposedly developing with all those 2060s.Nah it was so light, reflections, and shadows would be more detailed for specific shots and give it a cleaner look there was nothing stylized like cell shading for this one.
The one they went with was Octane.
That is true that the majority of PC's userbase does tend to skew more towards the low to mid end. The demographics for PC tend to play lesser demanding games, Counter Strike is still up there in the most played PC games.
But I'm just saying as far as the ceiling goes, new graphics cards have always ran in the thousands.
PC as the superior platform thus far comes with a shitload of asterisks. Games come unoptimized, digital only has proven to have issues, and you have stuff like denuvo.
The PC Audience (...) they're going to want stuff that's geared towards always online, you're not really looking at people who by majority favor single player games. So it's like you could have all the optimal hardware in the world, if the software doesn't do well that just further adds to many PC ports still being an afterthought and not a main priority.
like how do you just lose a machine entirely, to the point where you can't salvage anything out of it unless you exclusively use MacsThat and my previous set up began to shit itself and I lost a machine. So rather than dealing with having each machine fail due to general wear and tear I wound up just replacing them all at once since the previous ones were all the same age.
