What I noticed out of that was the one relatively attractive looking one of the lot (the better-figured redhead with the green bow) they just had to give a flaw...so they gave him/her/it hairy-ass legs. Because they can't have anyone looking actually feminine..

If anything, tumblr's fetishization of ugliness actually does these minorities a disservice by conveying the message that they should be content wallowing in mediocrity instead of rising up to greatness.

This is why Harrison Bergeron is emblematic of this kind of leftism. It has no positive message.

In fact, its message is depressing, perverse, and nihilistic.

The world these people want is an ugly, squalid world devoid of joy or greatness.

Though their version would be a lot more passive-aggressive.

Protip: If you don't know, then try to see if there's more positives than negatives.

Right now though, I'm not seeing that many things to like about this picture. Like, what gender is that thing anyways? It's wearing feminine clothing, yet has no breasts. Those faces also creep me out to no end. Especially the one on the full bodied sketch.

Eh, it doesn't have the "Tumblr nose", and is a very unique style. I'm not a fan personally, but I can see that style appealing to someone.

Beauty in the eye of the beholder and all that.

Apparently, that character is supposed to be a guy. The thing is, the fandom loves to draw him with a feminine body (usually big hips) and in female clothes for some reason.

I think they're more akin to locusts, once a given show isn't new and edgy anymore, they move on to greener fan art pastures to plaster their crap up in. 5 Years ago, they were infesting the MLP fandom, or Adventure Time, they just move on when they've milked it enough, showing how hollow they are inside when they'll drape themselves over anything as long as it's popular.

Those fandoms -AT, Undertale, Homestuck, SU, et al- fall under the umbrella of what's called the "Migratory SJ Fandom". It's basically A Thing that has elements that appeal to the SJ crowd and they flock to it like locusts, and in the process, make everything absolutely insufferable for the rest of us who, even though there's acknowledgement of any problematic aspects of it, just want to enjoy the thing. When the source material has done something problematic in their eyes, they disavow it and move onto the next thing.

From my understanding (and without powerleveling too much, I've been active in media fandom for years and have only recently begun a slow extraction to get out from it), the vectors for these in the modern era are considered to be either Homestuck or Dragon Age 2. Both of which began to take flight around a fight that's called 'RaceFail'. (I've also heard Hetalia was one, but that's debatable) As Homestuck began to wane in popularity (it's nowhere near the juggernaut it used to be, that's for sure), its fandom then began to spread to anything that looked remotely "progressive" and bring their extremely warped views of social justice with them. Dragon Age's fandom largely stayed in BioWare circles initially, but began to fan out to various AAA titles on either PlayStation, PC, or Xbox. There might be an overlap with Undertale, but it's hard to say at this point, 'cause UT's fandom is mostly made up of ex-Homestucks.

The whole 'Superwholock' phenom is sort of its own thing (not counting series like Teen Wolf -which is deader than dead now, but was a SJ-heavy fandom for a while there- or the Marvel Cinematic Universe), but it's really died down in the last year or so, as a lot of its parts have fallen out of favor with the fanbase in recent years, but back in its heyday it used to be a SJ wank powerhouse. Last I checked, that SJ-y segment of media fandom has glommed onto Star Wars in the wake of 'The Force Awakens' and I'm pretty certain they'll move onto either Suicide Squad or Batman vs. Superman next. Yeah.

He's a very effeminate David Bowie type in the game, so I'd say it's not all that weird.
Yeah, Mettaton's pretty feminine even in canon. That said, I love how SJWs see an effeminate male and immediately think "well obviously he's actually a woman" and fail to see why that flies in the face of their hatred of gender stereotypes.

Fucking hell. And of course the only white characters are 1. A king that murdered children and 2. Evil child that sets out to destroy the world.

Chara and Asgore did bad things, so they must be white!!!
But everyone else looks so tumblr.

Has anyone else noticed sjws seem to use "diversity" as a code for "more blacks?" They don't seem to give a flying fuck if Indians, Koreans, Chinese, Japanese, Arabs, Native Americans or anyone else get appropriate representation. They only get pissed about black under representation.

Most of these artists are American, so Black people are the alpha minorities.

I wonder if these SJW redesigns depicting female characters wearing only boyshort panties is a thing, or it's just something this artist decided to do for whatever reason. If it's the former (which I don't think is the case), then I don't want to know why they would think that thongs would be offensive or oppresive.

Boyshort underwear isn't arousing to men, so it's progressive.

These works look like they were made by people with spit level depth understanding of the midium and are more concern about injecting unneeded diversity than making something in tribute to what they enjoy.

In the video game thread, I made a comment about games that have "real" difficulty vs "fake" difficulty, with the latter being the hallmark of a bad game. And by "fake" difficulty, I mean something done in a game that only exists to make sure you constantly fail in order to progress, instead of learning to progress within the game mechanics, like opponents in a race never being able to fall more than 3 seconds behind you no matter how well you drive, or not moving the screen in a platformer until you've already jumped, making it impossible to see if there's anything to land on until you've tried it....

To put it another way, a 900 page book is a "real" challenge, a 10 page book written backwards so you have to hold it up to a mirror to read is "fake", get it?

What I'm getting at is that SJWs are into "fake" diversity, not "real" diversity.

In "real" diversity, people of different sexualities end up working/living alongside you, united by common human goals and provide a chance for growth in their interaction with others as an aside to the larger narrative.

In "fake" SJW diversity Whether or not the sexualities of the characters are of direct importance to the story or not, they are put in the forefront, made critical to the narrative, constantly brought up, relevant or not, and everyone must defer to them as their differences from "normal" make them special, verging on Gods incarnate.

Real diversity is when you can read a story by someone with a different sexuallity and not even think about it

SJW diversity is when you read a story by someoen with a different sexuallity BECUASE they're different and that's all that gives it value.

That make me shudder if any of the more progressive crap I enjoy catches their attention.

In the case of real vs. fake diversity, at least in the case of real diversity, the characters are competent in their roles, for the most part. In fake diversity, even the most incompetent characters for the role seem to be there, just because.

Boyshort underwear isn't arousing to men, so it's progressive.

And I assume that since boyshorts are more modern compared to longjohns, granny panties, and corsets, they would be the "hipster" way to go in terms of underwear design.

Now, usually a person's choice of underwear is their own business, but does anyone think that those people that use boyshort underwear in character designs to be "progressive", wear otherwise in real life?

Forgot I had this. Most fandoms are migratory, but the SJW side tends to be the nastiest.

Some of these aren't too bad, but I see how the first two are annoying.

Someone mentioned earlier that the point of heroes and heroines in fiction is to provide ideals for people to look up to. With that being the case, I think these SJW artists are missing the point not only of literary heroes but even the representational politics that supposedly inspires them in the first place.

I mean, people outside the Straight White Male demographic do need their own heroic ideals to aspire to. I for one think it would be a sad state of affairs if Asian guys never got to be dashing heroes or African chicks never got to be gorgeous heroines. If anything, tumblr's fetishization of ugliness actually does these minorities a disservice by conveying the message that they should be content wallowing in mediocrity instead of rising up to greatness. Juxtapose that with the current "mainstream" ideal of white heroes and you can see how this would perpetuate rather than challenge Eurocentric prejudice. At least I wouldn't want a world where white girls got to be Barbie while black girls had only Precious to look up to.

Representation is not a bad thing at all and I do think it's necessary, but people on tumblr use it to live through characters and Anita uses it to exploit money from people. The only thing that pleases them are Black trans demi gendered Mary Sues and censorship of anything the gross straight white male gamers/geeks like. It makes me, a Black woman uncomfortable with how little they care about quality works.

"Femininity is evil", says the tumblr feminist.

Femininity might arouse men, so it's ew and gross.

Why do they almost always have to make at least one of them obese?

Why do they almost always have to make at least one of them obese?

Some kind of "body positive" reaction to "fat shaming". On a more practical level, the creator is probably a hambeast itself and wants to challenge mainstream societal preference for body type that is not at higher risk for cardiovascular disease and Type II diabetes.

That fact often stands out the most when those artists "racebend" japanese characters into black ones, like Sailor Moon. Seems like to them light skinned asians might as well be white. I would be very interested to see how they would react if someone racebends a canonically black character into a japanese one :)

The colors in this are actually pretty good, but I think a problem with a lot of these artists is that they care more about developing a unique and quirky "style" than actually learning proper anatomy first. That was already a thing ten years ago on dA when kids were deflecting critique of their anime inspired abominations with "it's just my style, you hater". I suspect that young artists now think they are better than that because their art is inspired by cartoons instead of anime, like the very obvious Steven Universe influence in the above picture.
They really need to learn the importance of being able to understand and apply the rules before you try to break them and put your own spin on it.
