Consoomers / Consoomer Culture - Because if it has a recogniseable brand on it, I’d buy it!

This level of Disney obsession makes me feel dead inside. I wouldn't care if they only visited Disneyland a few times, but to treat such a blatantly artificial place like that as if it's the most fascinating place on Earth just rings hollow. The whole corporate nature of it and all feels awful.

You fool! You think the DDOS preventing media uploads will stop me from showing you more of this?

Why you do dis? YOU'RE BREAKING MY BALLS, MAN!

A recent story from South Korea.

A typical vapid IG Influncer/Youtuber became popular in South Korea after appearing on a "Love Island" style dating show wearing nothing but brand name stuff all the time.

Heaps of articles were written about her, what she wears, how she does her makeup, what celebrities are interested in her.

But then a few weeks ago she was cancelled. She deleted all her social media, as well as getting edited out of SK TV shows where she guest starred.

Single's Inferno participant Song Ji-ah to be edited out of MBC's The Manager amidst scandal

What was her crime? Apparently she wasn't a big enough CONSOOMER. Because 20 out of her 500+ piece wardrobe were knock-offs.

She ended up making an apology video after receiving death threats.

I found the dude whose gf knocked over the funko shelf and he is down bad. Didn't even take two years to do this to the mfer, at least a couple of these cost him over $100.

Also, the third angle shows that they sleep right in front of it lmao. The girl's probably just losing it after waking up to hundreds of beady black eyes every day.

South Korea is a different kind of consumer hell I can't even begin to fathom.

I would say you're an bigger consoomer, if you buy fakes. And she deserve it.
A dupe is okay, but an actual fake of a designer brand-product is a great sin.

It waters down the brands and make them seem cheap, when poors wear fakes. And I'm pretty sure the quality of fakes sometimes is better than the authentic stuff, is the reason for why designer brands are going down in quality. Like, why even try. If someone can get that thing for several thousand less and filthy normies can't even tell the difference.

We need class differences.

i shut off everything from south korea, their media is too plastic for me to stomach it. I guess it feels like the cringiest aspects from American and japanese pop culture but on steroids, their idols are like those creepy realistic robots, they give me uncanny valley vibes, very surreal stuff.

PL: I know someone who is too much into Kpop, well a specific band at the very least. Listens mostly from that band and thinks most bands from Kpop are pretty good but as a result, tends to be a narcissist and has too much pride. I can tell you that the moment you consoom anything from Korea that is mostly Kpop, Kdrama or any part of their culture, they will immediately adopt a holier-than-thou attitude to their culture, especially if they were anime weebs from the past.

Nor I, but I do want to know more about it.

Ok, we can do feudalism, but in exchange I want my own patch of land where I don't have to pay taxes and only need to offer yearly shares to m'lord.

There seems to be a generational difference where there are more weeaboos among millinials and more koreaboos in GenZ.
I blame the easy access to the associated media. Things like kdrama on streaming sites being more common than Japanese shows (and also the Japanese shows being represented are anime, not live action.) There's also the manwha/webtoon vs. manga divide. Teenagers are reading comics on their phones, not sitting on the floor of a Borders hiding from the store staff while they read entire volumes of manga.

I will join you in this.

Damn you to hell, I used to do that. Except it was my local hobby shop since they were the only place with good manga since we didn't have Borders and Barnes & Noble only ever stocked trash.

What the FUCK?

In that picture, there’s just around 200 visible (assuming the shelves aren’t double-stacked, yes, some retards will buy Funko pops just to put them BEHIND OTHER FUNKO POPS) + 10-ish extra large ones. That’s about one Funko pop every other day.

This is small potatoes in the land of coonsooming, but I've found my local grocery store chain's entry into smelly hand soap to be lulzy.

Every three months or so they come out with three new scents of these soaps. In July last year the scents were based on their brand of ice cream flavors. (So delicious, both the scent and the ice cream - people who don't have an HEB are missing out)

In December it was Christmas-esque scents. Now these.

I'm still working through the ones I bought in July (there's only two people in my household so it takes a long time to use a bottle of soap). The scents are amazing, but no way most people need three new scents of hand soap every season.

Other companies do this too, but this is the first store brand I've seen do this in a regular basis.

Haven’t they done this already? I seem to recall there being entire Disney-sponsored and Disney-themed gated communities in Florida.
That one was the one around Disneyland. They're dropping this abomination as a stand-alone subdivision in the Coachella Valley.

I am not very well versed with kpop but i read somewhere that is suposed to be very heavily linked to the SK government as a prtected industry. Maybe it is a psy ops after all.

There's an old conspiracy theory that claims the CIA was behind part of the counter culture in America and mentions how a lot of psichedelic rock musicians came from CIA families, maybe is a version of that and some MK ultra type programing going on with those shitty boybands.

I think part of the problem is that you never know if you'll want to read that book again. Same thing goes with video games or movies. You might read, watch or play it once and think immediately afterwards that you'll never do it again. But then a few years down the road you suddenly want to and since you still have it in your collection you can.
I like the idea of a large collection I can return to, but books especially take up so much space that I have found it better to just rebuy a book down the road as wanted -- usually at a cheaper price due to their depreciation. Same goes for disc-based games and more mainstream movies. I look at my current rate of media consumption, what I am likely to be spending my free time on the next few years, and weigh that against the convenience of having the media item onhand. I try to hold onto stuff I foresee being harder to get in the future, though.
