Few caveats on this announcement. Firstly it's only holding a committee vote whether to eliminate the vax pass next week - pretty much assured to be voted down, but you never know given the seething and dilating expected imminently. Second it's only the vax pass, nothing on masks or other bullshit restrictions which are just as egregious. Very good first step, but the Honkening has work to do yet.
On the plus side though it's interesting noting that Kenney has effectively lost control. One cabinet minister (individuals who never openly criticize the government) came out after this statement and said Kenney will be held responsible should the vax passes remain. Or in short, the blockades are working and twisting government into making decisions that should've been made a long time ago.
Goddamn I hope the protests this weekend are massive.

Oh yeah it was shit before. It brought in all these other criminals too that wouldn't be taken care of by local police. But if you called the hotline they would make sure the fucking feds knew about it. In the last decade things cleaned up a whole lot.
Used to be a few times a month you would get some lot lizard banging on your door in the middle of the night waking you up. Trying to sell herself. Or trying to sell you shit she stole out of the truckstop. Or from other truckers. Or whatever. Might be a setup to mug you or to break in and steal shit. Who knows?
It all pretty much went away. It's been really nice.

Yes! Definitely Canadian! To be fair the one in the vid I posted could have been a moose strolling around Anchorage ALK, but it looked Canadian to me.

I'm not sure how I should feel about you still having faith in the existing political/judicial system. Any good person would want to do things the right way, but I think we're past the point where the legal system, which they've been messing with for decades, can be relied on. Laws have been written in their favor, and where it's not, it's not enforced in ours.

Boomer farmer telegram update: I don’t think there’s much Kenney can do to stop the honkening short of truly capitulating and lifting everything tomorrow. The clan and extended network decided to go to Edmonton instead of Coutts, it was a pretty close call though. I haven’t seen them this fired up in a happy way in years.

TPTB appear to be setting up a false flag/smear event for the protests in Toronto.
The R/Toronto top posts are all currently priming the pump as we speak:
The angle will be something involving the "protestors attacking health care workers", "Protestors block ambulance", or at the minimum "Protestors honking disturbing sick children at the Hospital for Sick Kids" or something to that effect.
To see why this media angle will be believable, note the geography of Toronto, and how all the major hospitals in Toronto are located next to the Ontario Legislative Building, including the Women's Hospital (sexist smear angle), and the Hospital for Sick Kids (protestors hate children smear angle).
Here's a picture from the main street that leads to the Ontario Legislative building, which is marked in the distance. Almost every building you see to the left and right are hospitals:
This is a smear angle the media in Toronto have used before when the in person protests would march up the street to the Ontario Legislative building to demonstrate.
I can't really see any way to mitigate or prevent the smear, because it's ultimately media hearsay, but I can 100% guarantee it's coming.

The common law system works when people have a basic understanding of it. It's misunderstood by a massive amount of people in every country it exists in. Common law is by far the most fair legal system for everyone in the country they live in. Every problem in a common law country is born out of the legislature. Which is a good thing, if the legislature isn't working, get rid of them, don't put it on a court to fix your mistakes. That creates a level of problems nobody wants to imagine.

Yeah I'm not celebrating quite yet, plus I guarantee Edmonton & Calgary mayors would find a way to keep the bullshit mask mandates going (or even make their own ~restrictions exemption program~) but it's a good step forward.
I'm sure the protesters are smart and are planning to stay until it's a done deal though, if not until the Ottawa one succeeds too, so they've got leverage.
I've heard there's going to be a Calgary blockade happening, and Edmonton is definitely going to have something huge I'm sure.
The funniest thing is that they opened a pandora's box. Every time the govt does something stupid the truckers and farmers are just gonna do this again and again and again

That post was more, idk, a sort of thought experiment about what it would take to resolve some of the problems Canada is facing. The scenario I outlined is pretty much completely impossible; I certainly would not describe it as illustrative of having faith in the system. It was a big wall of text about several ways in which the system is broken, in some cases probably irreparably. For example, I think the likelihood of cracking open the Charter is basically zero.
