I think you hit the nail on the head. I think she imagined the altercation at Digi's house going completely differently. Digi was supposed to realize he was a man all along and bitchslap Ethan, then sweep her off her feet. Instead, Digi hid in a corner and had Riley engage in a gunt-to-gunt slapfight to defend his honor.

Now she's in too deep but is either too stubborn or too retarded to see the writing on the wall. There aren't enough 's in the world to describe her optimism.
