I get there's a lot of Conservative leaning leafs here and I still claim to be a moderate because both sides are absolute fuck wits. The amount of pure ignorance displayed by leafs within this thread on their own politics and history + the very clear right wing propaganda/leftist hate is pretty staggering. Sadly it's become an echo chamber rather than an actual discussion which is a great example of the failures of Canadians on a whole.

And comparing moving around vigorously in skiing in a full snow suit and protective gear in -20 weather is not comparable to out of shape folks in parkas from Walmart. Warming centers are opened for those stuck outdoors and there are regulations regarding how you would work in this temperature. You can get frost bite pretty easily, especially when you're not paying attention.

The truckers are homeless in that they're sleeping in their trucks. As they qualify for assistance they have every right to ask for help. Of course nothing in the story is likely true but if they did ask for food and shelter they should have gotten it. Most homeless shelters are government funded with some charitable donations. They're open to everyone in need. Proof of being homeless is not a requirement for a soup kitchen or flop house. Now stop acting like a bitch and cease the passive aggressive coping. I get you're Canadian but enough already. If you're in Ottawa why not fill us in on what's going on?

It looks to me like an internet connection issue. When you've got thousands of people concentrated in one spot, all trying to using the mobile network at once, the system can get strained.

Then again, one of my friends who moved to a city told me she didn't want to discuss the Convoy because "We're already low on supplies in stores!" and "This is going to make the gas and food situations worse!"

I swear to fucking God, if you move to a Canadian city, your brain falls out of your skull because she was never this retarded when she lived on an acreage. I even told her if she gets low on food she can have some of our eggs, but that wasn't "the point".

If you can't keep a winter stock of food in your house/apartment because the convenience of the grocery store outweighs having more than a week's food on hand, then fucking starve for all I care.

I have been told for years now that Mostly Peaceful Protests will always have a few unrelated troublemakers mixed in and you shouldnt judge the movement as a whole because of 1 or 2 bad actors.

You literally need to provide proof of residence and income to 90% of most food banks in Canada. They picked one of the few you do not. They ask for this proof for exactly this reason. They are not homeless, they are not unemployed. They took advantage of a social support that existed for the citizens that live there. And a handful of you believe this to be untrue because a person at the shelter in Ottawa announced the closure.

Perhaps worth noting that many urbanites are financially forced to live in a tiny apartment (a pod) that has little to no space for storing an emergency supply of ze bugs.

That story is as verified as the hundreds of YouTube videos posted here. Zero comparison to Smollet or other glow ops because it's a homeless shelter which closed its doors in an extreme cold weather alert. Last year they were shit on for letting a man freeze to death in a porta potty because the restrictions left him without space in a shelter. So what is it? Are the shelters inhumane and evil or are they political pawns the upper class use for media leverage? Or do they just exist trying to provide a service? Like can the SOUP KITCHEN exist without politics?
