Usually what happens is the people who commit the initial crime, be that a robbery, mugging or theft will have someone they regularly sell goods on to. This person will not ask where they got the goods, nor will they want to know - this compartmentalises the crimes, introduces a certain degree of plausible deniability for them and allows the actual thief a means to quickly move hot property.

If Ralph's retelling of the tale is true, four people acting in a group would suggest that this was some low level organised crime gang. OCGs will have this down to an art, and will operate like a well oiled machine. This fella probably knows the person who beat Ralph up, but is unlikely to know what happened.

This is actually an insanely good point. His body is certainly going to be in withdrawal at this point. The hospital may very well be forced to put him in a detox program during recovery.

For the first time in years, if not over a decade, the Gunt could actually find himself seeing the world through sober eyes as he stares back at the horrendous path of destruction he has left behind him as well as what he is returning home to. The question is, does he run out and double down by going full Bluto and chugging a full bottle of whiskey straight or come to some clarity?

Who the fuck am I kidding...Makers will be seeing record profits this year.

But does it work to counter DTs? They’ll want him to be NPO for 24 hours before surgery so hopefully the nurses keep him doped up because 24 hours without food or alcohol he’ll be impossible to stand. Or maybe they won’t be able to keep him doped because he’ll be under anesthesia and they don’t want any drug interactions.

All I know that surgery is going to be hell. There’s a chance of Ralph waking up because his body is used to processing drugs

It's possible that there is some hint of truth in both gunts and sellers lie. Let's say drunken Ralph was having fun in some bar, and his purse was idling on some table or chair. Alleged thug saw it (found it) and decided to collect it peacefully (mugging). Gunt noticed and starts yelling and approaching him (chased him down) and ends up beaten halfway to death cos he escalated the situation like a wigger he is.

Quite possibly this didn't even start out as a mugging. They might have just grabbed the murse as an afterthought when they were done beating him down.
