Angry Joe goes off about BF2042:

https://youtube.com/watch?v=i_vBMbi7qSQ
What I wonder about this game is the lore, given that there's no campaign for the game. And if there was one, given the state of the World in this Battlefield game (MUH CLIMATE CHANGE), would DICE have forced down the climate change messages down people's throats, during the said campaign?
The entire tone of this game is all fucked up. It's supposed to be a gritty apocalyptic world and yet everyone is doing retarded fortnite dances at the end of each match.

Also I know Joe is a sperg but at the very least he isn't just mindlessly shilling the game like all the other Battlefield Youtubers seem to be doing right now.

Going well so far. :smug:

Looking at reviews of 2042 and it looks jank as shit. It feels like a shitty f2p battlefield knockoff than a full $60 battlefield game. Even for nu-battlefield it feels lacking. I'll probably be sticking to Squad for the near future.
BF2142 is pretty dead with around 16 players on average. But despite the EA shutdown, Battlefield 2 still has a small player base with a few full servers, yeah. If you use a program called BF2hub you can access the servers.

Also, the modding community is pretty active even in fucking 2021. There's Project Reality, Forgotten Hope 2, and many more fairly recent mods.

Damn, Project Reality is still getting updates? That mod was my shit back in the day. Wonder if there's enough people still playing for it to be worth re-downloading.

IDK about the current direction battlefield is going, but in 2142 the lore was that there was a new ice age, had nothing to do with man-made climate change.

2142 called. They laughed at 2042 in very menacing manner.

And here I thought Battlefield 5 was the worst in the series. Hoooo boy I was wrong... HOW RЕTARDED YOU MUST BE FOR FUCK THE GAME SET IN NEAR FUTURE THAT MUCH UP? :story:

They had three years of development, and killed off BFV and Battlefront II (while it was thriving), for this clusterfuck.

DICE is incompetent, and who knows if DICE LA (or whatever they are these days) will swoop in to salvage their work.

They only killed off Battlefront II(4) because they knew they couldn't monetize it again.

honestly, isn't there an arma mod that goes full battlefield? there were lots of mods for BF to go more milsim, why not take the milsim and make it more arcade?
With enough mods and fiddling with the ACE system, you can probably make it become like BF. Hell, despite how janky ARMA is, it's probably be more stable than 2042 even with an extra 100gbs of mods.

Heck, even NFS Heat fell victim to this hastily scrapped thing that DICE dared to sell as a "game", as it was killed off as well, so that EA could throw more devs to try to save 2042, to no avail.

thing is it wouldn't even need to be that big, it would mostly be code (although I have no idea how arma mods work so they might require some stupid redundancy of assets or something).

EDIT: fuck it, now I'm curious enough to d/l it. also spotted some news about creator dlc which is apparently just publishing third party mods. SEE THIS SHIT EA? THIS IS HOW YOU MONETIZE DLC.

Nice, good to know that DICE's incompetence fucked over other developers as well. It's clear that they've become parasites, so incompetent that other developers are forced off their games to try (and evidently fail) to get Battlefield in a somewhat fit shape.

Say what you will of the man, but I hope Jason Schreier tears them a new asshole and exposes their incompetence.

Does anyone know if people still play Bad Company 2 Vietnam? I want to re-install it.

There's stories going around that DICE Sweden has been completely overrun by SJWs and BFV was just the beginning. There were some bad Glassdoor reviews of DICE Sweden that suggest the company is being co-opted.

With this, looks like all the good people have left.

This quote from back in the BF3 days, as well as the response to the current state of BF2042, makes that statement seem even more true:

It's as if new DICE tried too hard to appeal to a bigger audience, namely the players that haven't played the previous Battlefield games, and what they did ended up alienating a lot of the actual BF fans.

I sure hope he explained that to his wife's daughter.

I think 64 really is as far as it should be pushed. I'd even say that 48 players works better for a lot of maps. I learned this when I was an 24 hour Op Locker Fag some years back. The 64 map becomes an absolute cluster fuck, but with 48 players, it actually became possible to break the grid lock and flanking attempts are not as easily shut down.

In a situation like that, your efforts at back capping, attacking, and hunting a specific vehicle player can actually pay off.

The bigger you make the player count, the smaller effect any individual good player can have. Unless said individual is a good attack heli pilot accompanied by a competent gunner. Then the entire game is shut down. 300-500 combined kills with 0-2 deaths. GGWP.

And I don't think a bigger map is a good solution. Look at what happens in Golmud Railway. It's effectively 2 separate games happening in one map. Any bigger than that and it becomes harder and harder to actually affect the outcome of the game and people are gonna care less and less about bothering to push for a back cap or something.
