If we're rounding 14 billion out of the 20 billion profits made from gaming are all related to mobile leaving 6 billion to consolesThe whole "Japan is an irrelevant market" is nothing more than a sony fanboy excuse for the sole reason the Playstation brand no longer hold a part of the domestic market like it used to be.
6 billion is around what numerous euro territories do on average.
This is why companies are going international or they're going full on pachinko and gatcha. I don't see how that's hard to grasp, Japan made their choice they've opted for mobile gaming. They're moving away from consoles in general. They're not moving away from sony because they're still giving Fate Grand order a boat load of money as well as Genshin Impact which Sony has partnership deals with.
That's why I don't buy any of the bullshit narratives about a Japanese grudge against sony. They're still giving them money in some shape or form.
Japan's console market has greatly shrunk from it's heyday while the US's share has signifgantly grown. At this point every major Japanese publisher is now targeting foreign markets and US companies want to bring Japanese games over due to demand which exceeds any demand back home.
I mean I gaet that you want to hate Sony for console warrior reasons because they're not your brand. But you also have to understand that you're really kind of going at it by outdated assumptions.
I mean I know why I like sony and it's because no other company is bothering funding RPGs to such a large extent that they do. Nintendo doesn't do it outside of once in a blue moon, Xbox could do it but they sit on Bethesda and Obsidian instead. That's my personal metric for wanting to buy shit.
