Is marijuana addictive? Does it have any drawbacks?

No known physical addiction as such. As in, alcohol withdrawal and seizures, opiates and "flu".

Psychological addiction? You can get addicted to wanking, the slots, all sorts of things.

Consequences: Appreciation of jazz music, psychosis.

There is some psychological dependency, at least in my experience. But like all things that can be overcome; your body will understand that it doesn't require marijuana to function.

Does actually seem to help with neuropathic pain and appetite. Getting high enough can feel like a mild psychedelic trip. I wouldn't recommend it if you have a predisposition towards psychosis or schizoid tendencies.

I would say this is rather good advice.

I went cold turkey on booze, fags and weed. A physical dependence is still controlled by the mind.
You couldn't be more wrong. It is absolutely possible if someone is an alcoholic and they try to discontinue alcohol cold turkey they will end up dead.
