Without looking too deep into this shit, calling yourself "yandere" is most likely just a new variation of "I read a book LOL I'M SUCH A NERD" posing we saw several years ago - only this is now some sort of anime-centred variety.

Maybe the reason people would want a yandere as a girlfriend is because they want someone who's dependent, rather than someone who dumps them at the sight of someone hotter.
