After 15 years of playing as "the resistance" full of lame genderspecials dressed in non uniform clown costumes (limited edition!) who go up against much cooler looking baddies, people are thirsty for what it feels like to be part of something that's actually functional. James Bond and Tomb raider have to be filled with messages about how bad colonialism is, war movies have to be anti war, movies about fighting have to be shameful, it's all just a big lecture from a finger wagging nanny. They invite you to the party then shame you for coming.
Add to that the amount of people who have had to live in disorganized crime infested monstrosities, and a culture that doesn't know which way is up, many people find sub optimal order preferable to idealistic chaos. Rap, grunge, stories of rebellion and thug culture were cool when most people had a cozy life and wanted to seem badass. But the average 20 something now has known nothing but clown world and self flagellation since he hit puberty. A lot of these kids have a DAD who acts thug-lyfe and they know in reality he's a massive coward.
This is no small thing, culture reflects public sentiment and i think this is part of why the elites are having so much trouble supporting the mobs like they did 5 years ago. They likely have data analysts and social engineers who have made it clear to them: "Lawlessness aint cool no more..." They can't come right out and say it but they're having to dance around the issue when in 2020 they were sucking rioter cock at every turn.

Not to mention ideas like "freedom" are rather nebulous to kids, especially when they're supposed to do everything their parents and teachers tell them. At that point, freedom for them is nonexistent. They're constantly told what to do, and they are punished when they don't do it. So the idea of freedom is an alien concept to them, whereas power, whether it's direct power like the Force, shooting lightning or energy blasts, or superhuman strength, or power above others in terms of who gives the orders, is something they can understand and respect.
As I've said before, Trump needs to enact the Insurrection Act and go through the process of arresting Governor Newsom and Mayor Karen Bass ASAP before this has the potential to get uglier.
