I don't really give a rat's ass about the Higurashi gacha game but

It's neat but I kinda wish it was Keiichi. Probably kept it as Akasaka because they share the same VA.

Ciconia Phase 2 is never coming out is it?

Been two months since I last checked on Sotsu's score. How's it going?

Trickle-effect.

Gou has remained about the same in its scoring, but Sotsu keeps dropping. And the members number is for total userbase that has it on their list in some form or another, and only 4,240 new members put it on their list in the past two months. Yeah, sequels have less numbers than their prequels, and Gou at least had almost 9,000 new members, but this is a newer series. Where's the audience?

In the last two months, 13,371 members put the 2006 show on their list.

Gou just doesn't have an audience despite being the more recent series.

I expected this. Everyone who hasn't read the sound novel / watched the DEEN anime came in confused as hell, especially with the Rika twist spoiled in the second episode. Also it doesnt help that Gou was just not good on its own and did a pretty bad job at helping out newfags.

Also I don't go on Twitter but somebody sent this my way. It's very fucking stupid and reddit as fuck to lap up something because of brand loyality.

Oh isn't that Bess Sonozaki? Lmao I'm glad I never bothered with her just 'cause I found her voice annoying. I wonder if she's had some issues with Sotsugou given how much it fucked with her waifu and the Sonozakis in general.

Yeah, pointing out WTC is a profitable franchise doesn't mean the new stuff coming out will be automatically good. If it gives off a weird or bad vibe, then trust one's gut instincts, especially after being burned so badly as of late.

Holy fuck I didn't even notice that it was her. I think she said she thought Gou was okay but I have no clue about Sotsu. I really don't know what they see in Sotsugou that makes them stay and constantly not be cautiously optimistic of any WTC product being dropped.

Well that's kind of an odd change. I actually think the way Gou did it where they meet up but it's just not the same and Hinamizawa has changed too and then Satoko runs to the shrine works better

The difference is that Rika and the other club members aren't completely retarded in Meguri, so if Satoko actually got a chance to interact with the rest of the club, they would certainly find a way to make things work out, thus preventing the entire story from taking place.
Eua pulling Satoko in right at the time where she'd most strongly wish to return to how things were in June of '83, and preventing her from ever learning the truth about who told the teacher about the bucket trap, is in fact, the perfect opportunity to fuck up Satoko and set her up on an inevitable course of self-destruction, thus leading to a grand tragedy that never would've happened if Eua didn't decide to mess with her for her own entertainment.

It's honestly the best way for her character to work. She's evil for simply offering Satoko this power at the worst possible time.

I hit an epiphany and I'm furious Ryukishi didn't realize this because he can't be arsed to remember his own story.

You want to make the story of Sotsugou work?

Here you go. This is the crossroads to making it plausible.

Rika somewhat made a choice here, but she didn't really have to because Keiichi and friends came to briefly save the day anyway. But let's say Keiichi and the others weren't able to make it, thereby making Rika choose her friend or her own life.

20220113122917_1.jpg

This statement right here was the key. Rika didn't become Bernkastel by choosing her friend over self-preservation. Bernkastel still exists as a separate entity at this point, but that entity hadn't yet been cast out or been allowed to take over. But if you had wanted a witch origin story like Sotsugou was going for before pussying out, and if they wanted to have their cake and eat it too in playing up the previous arcs to give them different outcomes, they should've done this in having Rika abandon Satoko in attempt to save herself, in which Satoko, whether by Eua's influence or not, remembers this moment or sees it in Rika's memories, and zones in on that to get angry over Rika. After all, Rika had developed such apathetic tendencies by this time, so it wouldn't have been completely out of character for her to have done this since she was going to another world anyway.

Being abandoned by your closest friend is a much better witch origin than being pissy over having to do homework because you couldn't say "No" when all your friend wanted was to have you by her side.

Supposedly Rena (or someone who's supposed to resemble her) is now a character in the new game of Hyperdimension Neptunia: Sister vs Sister (Source: https://nichegamer.com/hyperdimensi...s-sisters-higurashi-when-they-cry-and-touhou/).

It was obvious that they were milking this franchise to death, but I never really expected Higurashi content in a Neptunia game.

It's a "Mascot" character, not the actual Rena. (So yeah, it's someone whose supposed to represent her\When They Cry Franchise)

For example, "MAGES" is a character who is supposed to represent Makise Kurisu and represents the Steins;Gate franchise, both having nods towards that franchise (Referencing the ""Door of the Fate Stone" , Having Doc Tear Popper (Dr.Pepper) as a favorite drink and outright having Makise Kurisu as an alternative outfit)

While I wouldn't say I'm excited about it, I do hope they give her something that show's off her insanity for her combos and specials, that and the oversized cleaver.

It's a "Mascot" character, not the actual Rena.
In this case, the difference is pretty much nonexistent, given that Dragoon Lena from Final Fantasy V is both the franchise mascot and an actual character within the franchise.
It's kind of a pity really, since Rena is probably one of the least interesting parts of the series; Keiichi is the more interesting murderer, Rika is the actual main character, Satoko is the one with the most hilariously fucked-up life, and Shion is the more entertaining full-on psycho with the funnier backstory.
If anything, the public perception of Rena is mostly focused on how she came across during Onikakushi, and this is likely what the Neptunia version will use, and the whole thing about that story was how Keiichi's delusions were obviously not true to her actual character.

The difference being she won't be actually called Rena ingame, but will more than likely have several nods towards the When They Cry franchise and Rena's character traits.
Other examples include "Falcom" , "Nitroplus" and even a character literally called "God Eater", all of them being characters that are supposed to represent franchises\companies but none of them being original characters from said franchises.

If anything, the public perception of Rena is mostly focused on how she came across during Onikakushi

Most likely because that's what most people think about when they think "Higurashi When They Cry", even if they never watched the anime or read the novel, she's pretty much instantly recognizable for all the wrong reasons.

Pretty much confirmed.

Kind of sad really, I think Rika would have been a better pick of character, Imagine if she could HDD (Transformation basically) into a Bernkastel'ish Mascot with completely different magic attacks, would have been far more fitting.
