I wonder how much of that is people chipping in just to spite Linkara?

The art looks like absolute crap, and the people normally throwing money at crap projects because it's made by a genderspecial would presumably be put off by Iron Liz's political views.
At least it’s better than Lewis art and that would be funny if they bought the comic and be surprised by them.

Some people just want to see the world burn

I genuinely hope this is some rough drafting concept shit. This is bad, like "Why don't you smile?-Jesus christ nevermind" level of bad.
It’s bad but the story might be passable

Liz is happy with it because it looks "professional" compared to Linkara's work.
Vic King is happy with it because ~$5000 is the highest grossing project he's ever worked on.

No. That's a fairly accurate representation of Vic King's style.

I don't love it, but I don't hate it either. It's certainly better than Linkara's work, which I think is a big point of this whole endeavor: To take something that's utter shit and make it less so. One certainly hopes they'll succeed. Linkara didn't exactly set a high bar.

The art style is very caricature-inspired. It looks "okay" not anything truly professional but obviously still better than Lewis' abomination.

Vic is definitely a "lower tier" Comicsgater. If we using crowdfunding success to set that measurement. Like Dongs said, this project might end up setting his personal record for success. The other crowdfund campaign he's currently attached to is currently sitting at $1,220. He seems to do a lot a "work for hire" for other people, and I'm pretty sure comics are NOT his day job.

My guess here is that Liz wants to do this mainly to spite Linkara, but doesn't want to expend too much effort to do it. As if the whole thing were one elaborate shitpost.

I mean no disrespect to Vic King by any of this, BTW. He comes across as a very affable guy who's not full of himself. In many respects, Liz picked an "anti-Linkara."

I listened to the whole podcast that Liz was on promoting the comic, and one thing that came up really interested me.

Liz started talking about how the people that infiltrated and now control comics, games, and all these other communities were the ones complaining about gatekeeping a decade ago.

And now they have put up iron fences with barbwire to maintain their influence over these communities....damn.

Liz isn't wrong. That's why CG started.

I mean, in theory.

CG, like GG before it, is now an autistic pile of autism. Filled to the brim with incompetence and grifting. It's not gonna do a damn thing to correct anything, but the underlying angst that people bring forth when talking about the state of the mainstream comics industry these days has at least some legitimacy surrounding it.

On the one hand, what Liz is doing here might be thought of as a bit childish but, on the other hand, Linkara has the same mentality of the people who took over mainstream comics years ago. They're the people who think making Superman gay (or some shit) "improves" the property.

Within that context, it's legitimately kinda funny that Liz is going to "improve" Lightbringer. Something about turnabout and fair play. Plus, Liz is trans, so it's gonna be difficult for Linkara or anyone to throw too much of a shitfit. Liz could probably play that to the hilt by including as much "problematic" content as possible.

Me? I just want the Green M&M included somehow.

That is always happening: Young upstarts manage to get a foothold and instantly will do everything to keep it and expand it at any cost.
