It's probably for legal reasons. Ralph has been through the courts almost as many times as the liquor store, this is one area he at least has some experience in. Having awoken from his latest whiskey-coma to the realisation that he has now implicated himself in potentially several criminal acts, he knows what the appropriate response is - deny, no comment. Don't say anything that will fuck you harder if it goes to court.
