Couldn't Ralph have bought that place outright with 50k, probably wouldn't have even had to spend too much of it to keep him mom from going under or totally paying off the house? He wouldn't have even had to run into any issues regarding his debts because you can gift people money, and $15,000 per person a year is gift-tax free (sometimes I wonder if the ecelebs try to hide from taxes by saying it's a gift, but the IRS definitely wouldn't think so).

After his mom died he would even get to step the basis on the house up to market value, so he would be able to sell the house immediately and pay little to no tax if he wanted to move well let's face it the 250,000 residence gain exception would cover the entire price of that house 5 times over so that isn't a factor. Point being, he wouldn't lose any money to taxes on selling the house, so wanting to move later isn't an excuse to not own it and just have the money stored in a less liquid (but reasonably so apparently) asset. Maybe his debts would be garnished from sale proceeds or the property would be repossessed or have a lien placed if he inherited it?


I just don't get why they wouldn't do that and avoid losing the house / paying rent

One of the worst things you can do in life is to be pointlessly mean to people who are trying to be nice, help you, or share a thought with you. Being a defensive asshole all the time is a disease. It just burns bridges you haven't even crossed, for no fucking reason. It makes people hate you.

Also this is definitely a symptom of alcoholism. Lashing out, abusive language, it's all a side effect of reduced brain function from being drunk. I shudder to think how he actually treats him mom and GF, considering he refuses to cook or clean, or do anything to be a man of the house.

Yes, but it's a crap shack. However he could have bought a MUCH better place by now. Mortgage rates are not that bad... and even if his credit is shit, he can get a FHA home loan assistance deal.

I'm amazed he thinks he can win this argument on the merits of freespeech. He will be lucky if all that happens is he loses a couple of fans, at this point. He's reached the point where even the people that agree with him in principle, are beginning to defect.
