Robert tweets 60 times a day and still can't grasp how twitter works...people are free to reply to anything you tweet out. It's out there in the public for anyone to see. He's shocked when he gets some back.

He's not the only one. Lots of people seem to think that you shouldn't comment on things they put out for public consumption unless it's for asspats.

I follow a lot of amateur writers, and we occasionally tweet out samples of our work -- "1 line Wednesday" and similar. Recently one lady I followed put out a sample, someone politely suggested an edit to improve it, and she had an utter meltdown, screaming about "mansplaining" and stupid male writers butting in where they weren't wanted etc. etc. This went on for most of the day. (Of course, this girl is currently trying to shame everyone into supporting the wanton criminality running rampant across the country, but that's to be expected.)

It's very strange. People crave the echo chamber, but want to be noticed at the same time. Can't have it both ways, kids.
