Google is now locking you out of captchas if you don't have a smartphone with their spyware installed - And he causeth all, both small and great, rich and poor, free and bond, to receive a mark in their right hand, or in their foreheads, and that no man might buy or sell, save he that had the mark, or the name of the beast, or the number of his name.

Saw this shit the other day on archive.ph.

Screenshot's not mine since I was so dumbfounded I didn't think about making it. My phone was in the other room and I'm not scanning shit from it anyway, so I scanned it with a Honeywell barcode scanner I had laying around instead. This returned a link https://recaptcha.net/qr/someid which then redirected to https://support.google.com/recaptcha/answer/16609652 (archive).

Notably, it says you can pass the test only if you have either of:
  • An Android phone with GApps installed
  • An iPhone or iPad with a third-party reCaptcha app
So, if you're running a custom ROM with no GApps (like Graphene or Lineage), a Huawei with HarmonyOS, some Linux phone like Jolla, a dumbphone/flipphone, or you don't have a phone to begin with, you're essentially locked out of anything that requires a captcha, which is now at least 90% of the Web thanks to all the "bot checks" each and every website is seemingly requiring.

Granted, I figured out you could press the eye icon to click on the bikes the old-fashioned way, and haven't seen it since; maybe Penis Detrov of archive.is has managed to turn that off. But who says the legacy captcha is there to say and won't be deprecated the same way the old two-word captcha was?

Apparently I'm not the only one who noticed it:

https://piunikaweb.com/2026/05/07/google-recaptcha-play-services-requirement/ (chive)

Thankfully I never had anything like that to deal with, but I do have to constantly solve captchas if I ever need to use Google search on my phone (Sony Xperia XA2 with LOS 23), even though I installed the minimal GApps package. No matter what IP I got or VPN/no VPN, no matter what browser I use, it always asks to solve this shit before opening the search website.

the retarded jeets at google really think they can enforce faggotcaptcha with the regular people, especially with regards to forcing them to read a QR code?
lol.
lmao even.

this is peak retardation that will backfire and the jeet-in-charge that came with this stupid idea won't be flushed, sadly.

google will soon realize that the general people are lazy as shit, especially with math solution based captchas like tartarus does for the farms, if these things start spreading around... watch them and cuckflare swap to that pretty quick since it requires no clicking...

Unrelated but a special shoutout to Glowflare and their "security verification". Apaprently latest Firefox ESR is no longer supported, despite the help page claiming otherwise and their checker returning "All Browser Checks Passed!".

Making browsers just mine hashes without anything else doesn't bring that sweet, sweet Big Data to please shareholders, mind you.

Let's hope so. I suspect these new policies are an attempt to suppress those international click-farms that are just thousands of cell phones all wired to a main terminal.

I tried archive.ph, and it gave me the regular "Select all the cars" image recognition captcha. They are probably still in the A/B testing phase at this point regarding the rollout of this new anti-feature.

I wonder if disabilities will be the downfall of this kind of shit. All it takes is one sufficiently big lawsuit.

Something I've said in other threads, but I never understand this idea that phones are ubiquitous (they're not) and the most secure thing ever (lots of people lose them, break them, or have them stolen). I, and one of my friends, only have one that stays at home so we can buy things from the internet.

Smartphones have reached such a critical mass that if you ask what's gonna happen if you don't have one all you get is fluoride stares.

It also trains golems to absentmindedly scan every QR code they see, it's a malware vector waiting to happen. Just show them a QR code dressed up as a captcha that tells them to download or do something and they will do it. They already scan codes at restaurants because they're too docile to ask for a paper menu.

So what you're saying is jeet coders are needlessly adding friction to a system that already had friction?

Do they not realize that the most common end-user response is to just quit?

No, stop, I refuse to believe the human race has become this fucking pussified and retarded, especially when Restaurants are just giving them away at the register counter as little pamphlets.

The new internet is purely for jeets and niggers and low IQ mongrels. It's not for educated Whites anymore. These things will keep happening until 99% of websites are gone and are replaced by standalone 'app' sites. Every site will just launch through its app and the days of desktop browsing and running an independent site will be gone.
