I think they'll just retcon Doom 3 and say Doom 64 was the real sequel instead.

My head canon timeline for doom/Wolfenstein (I’m not familiar with Commander Keen or Quake) is WW2 era Spear of Destiny Wolf 3D Cursed...

My understanding is that a broad strokes version of 3 was in there somehow, probably happening alongside aE1 and 2 of Doom.
