Simply the most based thing I have ever seen done to a git project. To those just skimming essentially what happened is that louis saw an open source 3d printing slicer project that got a cease and desist from bambulab. because the project was based off gpl code that BAMBULAB HOSTED he took the code and reuploaded it under his github then made this video telling bambulab to try suing him.

Any other Chinese company would just release a "V2" and ask you to pay again, or go fuck yourself. That's what Creality did with their shitty A1 clone.
Bambu Lab as a corporation fucking sucks. They are total arseholes and their legal department should eat a bag of 屌.
The 3D printer meta goes like this.
1. If you want something that works with minimal effort and you don't care about how it works, get Bambu Lab.
2. If you fall under the above, but also want something privacy focused, get Bambu Lab and use it in LAN mode only. Use Orca Slicer for added flexibility. None of Bambu's shitty cloud garbage is required to print.
3. If you like tinkering, get a Voron build.
4. For multiple colour printing, I would recommend the Snapmaker U1. I used one for a while and it's solid. They also seem more friendly and open than Bambu Lab, but it's to be seen. So far, I don't think they've opened anything they promised to.
5. Finally, if you are wealthy and must have something that's made (well, printed and made) in the west, you can buy a Prusa printer. Compared to any other modern brand, Prusa just doesn't hold up. You're paying to make a statement. The owner (Joseph Prusa) is kind of a lolcow too. His printers were pretty good at some point and he benefitted from the openness of the 3D printer spergs, until Bambu came along with their innovation. Now it's a problem that Bambu is building someone based on the openness of the community, which is hypocritical of him. He constantly stokes the flame war between the two brands. Occasionally, he'll make stuff up to attack other brands, like claiming Elegoo is 50% funded by the CPC (untrue, I got someone to check in China, they got a decent grant from the Shenzhen government). The reason elegoo is so cheap is pretty simple. They're just a Bambu clone.
6. If you're an enterprise user, I would recommend an enterprise Bambu printer or something from Stratasys.
Conclusion:
Stay away from most Chinese brands. Unlike Bambu Lab, they pump out shitty printers every few months. Instead of updating an existing model and focusing on making it better, they will put out a "new version" to fix issues of the old one. You're left holding the glitchy older model. The benefit of Bambu Lab and Prusa is the dedicated long-term support of their machines. Bambu's customer support outside of China used to suck, it's pretty good now.
All of these Chinese brands also force their own shitty Orca fork on users with shoddy questionable cloud services, instead of just making Orca Slicer profiles (only Snapmaker does that).
About slicers:
Orca Slicer is based on Bambu Studio.
Bambu Studio is based on Prusa Slicer.
Prusa Slicer is based on a legacy open-source software simply called slic3r.
I have used all of them, Orca Slicer is the best. The rank goes exactly the same as above.
Steve said he wants to replace Bambu machines with Prusa lmfao. I look forward to that. In terms of ease of use for a total novice like him, he should just suck it up and use his Bambu in LAN only mode while calling them cunts.

The bambu lab part of this video makes Gamers Nexus appear retarded and I believe that they are either dishonest clout chasers or dumb.
They said in the video that they are gonna do a deep dive into Bambu labs anti consumer behavour. But if you are that concered with a corporations behaving unethicaly why would you give several thousands of dollars to them in the first place? This is not like the PC scene where you only have the option between red or green there are countless manufacturers of 3d printers.
It's not like Bambu labs being assholes is unknown it's in pretty much every review I have seen of the printers and everywhere 3d printers are disscused in text form. I knew about them being assholes and I still bought one a year ago since nobody else has matched them on the marketplace as of yet. Why would you buy 5 grand worth of printers without googling first? Even Linus was aware a year ago about their practices and made a video about Bambu being fuckheads. Really ironic when they called LTT out for not doing their resarch. Just mogged by King Linus.
I find it far more likely that Steve knew about their fuckery but saw an oppertunity for some cheapo credablity. Even their initial response was wierd they only started talking to Prusa cause Wendell from Lvl1techs was recomending them. Instead of always trying to be reddits favorite crusaders they should do their own fucking resarch.
I think it was intentional. Bambu handled that design flaw pretty well. Most Chinese companies would have just fucked up and probably get barred from vital western markets or find a way to blame the consumer.
Hell, western companies do that. Apple blamed consumers for not plugging in cables and closing laptops correctly until the state told them to fuck themselves and fix the flaws.
Bambu Lab is an arsehole hawk of a company but they're not Apple. Their products are easily repaired compared to Prusa or many of their clones. They sell repair parts. The ecosystem is semi-closed but they can't be compared to Apple with loads of caveats. I'm a user, I can give zero fucks about all of that unless they completely disable LAN mode and force cloud bullshit or the printer is disabled. That's not happening because it's gonna be brand suicide. Typical to a system like that, you can use "third party" components, however, there are minor inconveniences. The user must dial it in, which is not a problem for someone who knows what they are doing or knows how to google.
Most importantly, they release a product and continue to support it instead of churning out a V2, V3, Max, pro and so on.
They should be getting a Voron instead. The retard Bambu/Prusa fantard fight is more profitable, though.

Bambu has an actual operation in the US (I think NY,CA, CO, and TX) as well as in Germany/Netherlands so they can't be 100% retarded like the smaller ops. You SHOULD report them for H1B fraud and abuse though.
