For the last time. Parole essentially does not exist in Virginia since literally the year Austin was born. This was due to more truthful sentencing. In states that pretend to be tough on crime (sometimes) like California, New York and the rest, someone would be sentence to 100 years in prison, then paroled after 10. Virginia said that was bull shit, just sentence them to 10. So for a while Virginia had a false reputation of being light on crime due to seemingly less harsh sentences, but in reality sentences handed out were real, actual sentences to be served.

Maybe you are thinking about Probation. I know. two works beginning with P and longer than penis its super easy to confuse them. Probation is in-lieu of incarceration and given by a judge as part of sentencing. Parole is early release from incarceration by a board following established state guidelines. Probation is forced upon you. Parole is applied and begged for.
