I can prove this mathematically.
Iraq in 2003 had a population of about 40 million people. It is nearly all flat terrain. The US took over a year to put into place 500,000 personnel. They had significant contributions from the UK as well. (and Don't forget Poland) They took Iraq in about a month, but it was fairly touchy at times. It was well accepted that this was really not enough troops, it was fairly touch and go at times, and of course we all know that it was not even close to a force needed to stabilize a country.
Iran has a population of 90 million. The US would need DOUBLE that, 1 million troops, to conquer Iran on the ground. A more realistic number is 3 million, given the more difficult terrain any invasion force would encounter. Total US military including reserves is I believe 1.3 million.
Even if Trump decided to just go ahead and give the Democrats the midterms and reactivate the draft, it will take 10 weeks for the first wave of draftees to complete Basic Training. 3 to 20 more weeks for them to complete AIT.

Any unit going to the desert needs to go through 90 days of aclimitization training so they don't heatstroke out. The US would need to move supplies, warehousing for those supplies, housing, etc.
